  1. >Bells chimed across the sky like a meadowlark’s song in the brisk curl of winter tides.
  2. >Though they rang not for you, nor for the beautiful mare that stood at your side, fumbling with the small headpiece she had insisted would be a necessity.
  3. >She hadn’t had the bits for it, but when she went to go get them, you spent all you had to lower the price so she could keep the money she had, what little of it anyway.
  4. >She was so giddy, so excited, her eyes straining to meet yours. She wanted to be the beautiful bride you dreamed about, she thought she had to do so much more, but she had accomplished that the first time you two met.
  5. >Rain was lightly tapping the small building you two stood in, the song of nature itself the bells for your engagement. While you could hear cheers of friends and acquaintances singing in the name of good health to a newlywed couple who had chosen the same day as yours, accidently of course, you could only hear the sweet voice of the mare before you.
  6. >She turned toward you, vows slipping from her lips like whispers on a quiet summer night.
  7. >Her beautiful eyes straining yet failing to look upon yours.
  8. >But it was perfection.
  9. >In the small building you two claimed as your current world, the pony behind the pedestal droning the words you had already prepared to hear, you sighed happily at the final response between you and her.
  10. >Against the rain and outside world, there was only you and her, an in that moment were newly joined lips met, the sound of rain echoed like a bell.
