  1. Ok, so I had a few instant reactions to this so responded rather quickly without thinking this new policy over. But, as I sat here pondering the pros & cons I only came to the realization that I like this policy less and less the more I think about it.
  2.
  3. - As far as the identity theft concerns. Those concerns have NOT been put to rest. Do I honestly think that someone over in Omerta towers will steal my identity? No. But, God forbid my identity does get stolen at some point, when I go to my local police department to file a report and try to catch who stole it I am going to be asked who could have stolen my identity. Im then going to have to inform them that some company in another country that I have no contact information for has a copy of my ID. With that out there, there is more then enough reasonable doubt if anyone is ever charged with the theft of my identity. Oh, and as I said earlier ... name, address and, date of birth is enough information for someone to steal your identity.
  4.
  5. - Like many others, I am not in anyway confident in Omerta's security (on computers or in filing cabinets) due to the recent security flaws exposed.
  6.
  7. - The only time I am going to asked for my ID is when they have serious suspicious that I am not playing fair. Thats fine but, are you going to tell me why you have those suspicions? Like I have said earlier, innocent accounts have been akilled with no excuse as to why. When they have vigorously attempted to clear their name and get a revive they were told that they couldnt because revealing how they "know" they were scripted accounts would give information to the cheaters to beat the system later. Thats understandable but, that leaves absolutely no way for the player to defend their account against wrongfully being akilled. Now that we are dealing with real life information and things that can affect someone personally, this needs to change. If you want my ID, you will need to tell me why Im being suspected of cheating. No more of this "admins are flawless" attitude. Because you have wrongfully akilled people in the past and were extremely arrogant about being right even though you were 100% wrong.
  8.
  9. - How will you deal with minors who play this game? Will you get approval from their parents to keep a record of their ID on file within your company? If not, Im sure there will be some laws you are breaking in regards to entering into a contract and gathering personal information on minors without the permission of their parents. What will you do about minors who have no ID? Here in America (NJ), you dont get an ID card (drivers license) until you are at least 17. Are you going to request a certified copy of their birth certificate? Social security card? How will you handle this situation?
  10.
  11. - How long will my information be kept on file? When Omerta LTD folds (and I assure you it will if you keep instituting policies like this) how can I be sure my information will be disposed of properly? What kind of security checks do you perform on your employees to ensure that they are not criminals and will not use my information illegally?
  12.
  13. Here in America I have legal options against companies that utilize my information illegally or unethically. You are based in another country and I do not have those some options. What assurances can you give me that:
  14.
  15. A) My information will be kept confidential and secure
  16. B) Will only be requested for a valid reason
  17. C) I will be compensated in the event my information is solicited and/or utilized inappropriately
  18.
  19. Sorry to tell you but, with the corruption of the admins in the past, the horrible security flaws on your servers and, your unwillingness to assist players with inappropriate akills, not many people will take you on your word alone.
