  2. So far I like everything about this server. But my main concern has to do with quirks. It looks like you can science your way into a meticulous quirk that does more than a traditional one should. I took a gander at your Lumino character and noticed the 'plasma' quirk to seem more comic book like than fit the boku no hero universe. It does quite a lot.(edited)
  3. I mean, it does give me the opportunity to adapt an old nuclear concept, but I just noticed that being able to create, shape and manipulate a basic particle of that nature covers many quirks (plus more with the passive). At first I thought it was just a matter of absorbing it, then being able to ward properties with plasma (such as fire).

  5. Thank you for voicing your concerns, however i’d like to explain the process behind the quirk itself with some information. First off, i’d like to mention that even though my quirk may appear comic-book like, the characters of BNHA are just as guilty. Several characters from BNHA are inspired by Comic-book characters: Twice=Deadpool, Stain=The Punisher, All Might= Captain America.
  6.
  7. I’d like to also say that “sciencing” my way into a quirk is kinda needed depending on the quirk. Some quirks kind of need some form of science behind it. Take momo’s creation quirk for example. She converts the lipids in her body to create essentially anything so long as she has an understanding of how it's made, which by your logic could technically classify as multiple quirks in one. However a better example would be Shoto Todoroki. He essentially has two quirks morphed into 1.
  8.
  9. Lumino’s quirk essentially only works in the same fashion as Todoroki and are based around an element. Being that Todoroki can spew out fire or ice from his body, Lumino can spew Plasma energy out from his body. He’s only able to absorb that same energy through ionization. I’m not sure if you say this one bit of information, but he has to voluntarily absorb the plasma energy or else he’ll be damaged by it, this is only however negated when his body is covered in plasma and creates that shield against those elements. This is practically the same as Shoto covering his body with fire or ice so long as he’s regulating himself.(edited)
  10. Any quirk is capable of doing more than one thing so long as the person knows how to develop a mastery with said Quirk. One-for-all gives superhuman strength, speed, agility as well as invulnerability, again shoto has the ability to use not only ice but fire and could essentially make steam or even water for that matter via controlling the temperature, Neato practically has more than one quirk via mimicking someone else’s quirk. As i said before, every quirk is capable of being versatile so long as they know how to do it and that it makes sense.

  12. My first point was the adaptation of a comic-book power, not character. You used overpowered quirks as a backing for your claims to say one should have quirks that do multiple things. We don't know if Todoroki is immune to others' fire/ice, but he does have obvious resistance (he also doesn't manipulate ice/fire in the environment). Momo's quirk is just that. Creation. It's why I didn't exactly mind the iron ranged weapon quirk. Todoroki can't absorb fire/ice. If the logic is that your standards would allow OfA types of levels (considering Licht has transformation + emitter qualities) so long as someone explains it, then I understand (but don't agree). The biggest issue I see with the quirk (aside from it being able to mimic anything based on plasma such as fire/electricity) is that it's a fundamental state of matter. It covers an overlying list of things much like a comic book power. If it was strictly based on St Elmo's fire (a form of plasma) then the specifity would help balance it.(edited)
  13. Plasma itself extends to so much. Even nearly all popular forms of artificial systems. But well, if the standard of grading player quirks allows these multitude of capabilities like the general manipulation and generation of a basic force, then no problem I guess. It's just a red flag for me. Anyway, nice to see a server that at least has literate standards.(edited)

  15. A power or character can both originate from comic-books. Bnha having powers or even characters isn’t any different from a comic-book having one, all that’s really separating them is the matter of delivery. Superhero and villains are just a comic-book concept, which the show is practically based around. Things such as: Superhuman Strength, Gigantification, Electricity, Healing, Ice manipulation, Fire manipulation and so fourth have all been shown in both an show/anime and a comic-book. Again, the only thing that’s separating them is just the delivery.
  16.
  17. While i am using canon quirks to support my claims, i’m not at least just basing them off of claims alone. I never did say that Todoroki is immune to fire or ice, but he does show resistance to it in cases such as when he’s setting himself on fire or covering himself in ice. I didn’t say he could absorb fire or ice. Licht doesn’t necessarily have a true transformation, as the description says, he’s spreading the quirk throughout his body. It would be the same as Todoroki setting himself on fire so long as he’s continually fueling the flame. One-for-all is a emitter type quirk and Izuku is channeling one for all throughout his body, All-might naturally transforms due to One-for-all, an emitter type quirk.
  18.
  19. Also, nowhere on Lumino’s sheet says that he’s manipulating plasma around himself. The very plasma that he’s only manipulating is the same from his body such as Todoroki as he’s only controlling the ice and fire that he creates. How absorption comes to play is similar to a battery, so long as you absorb the corresponding source, it helps fuel the power.
  20.
  21. I believe the main concern from you is that you’re not having a clear grasp of what the quirk can do or the terminology behind it or that the words used in the sheet were misleading.
  22. Yes, i understand that my character is capable of doing things that other character’s cant due to the effort put behind him, but with that same effort, there are also drawbacks and flaws to him that come with it. While yes, he can manipulate the plasma he generates in expense of his own energy, he can absorb other forms of plasma to help fuel his quirk. While yes, he can absorb these things, he has to consensually absorb said forms otherwise he can be damaged by them. Even if he absorbs this, there’s a limit to how much he can absorb and a threshold for it, if he succeeds this, this will work against himself. His ability to channel his quirk throughout his whole body is not a true transformation, he’s rapidly dispersing plasma energy out from his body. If him having an immunity against elements that compose Plasma is a bit much, i understand that much and could alter it to where he only has a slight resistance to it, but allow me to make it clear that he’s not enabled to separately manipulate fire, electricity and so fourth, just the general state of Plasma.
  23.
  24. If the OC i’m using serves a problem, then i apologize that this is only affecting you. I hope that in the role-play that i can establish that i won’t be abusing his quirk and present a better picture of what his quirk is like, but for the time being, both of us are naturally going off of this on inference and the state of how the quirk is going to be used is subject to be different.

  26. The style itself adapts a comic book style where a quirk is mostly meant to be an oddity, comic book powers are traditionally manipulation of X to the degree of Y. I never even implied you said anything. I was noting that your comparisons to Todoroki aren't too valid as your character absorbs this fundamanental property. If they're distributing plasma throughout their body to be immune to it, that's one thing. But to be immune and absorb to it, and use it for its many application is something else. If you're picking and choosing Todoroki's strengths from your different examples, then it should be noted that your strengths do much more than his. Just on the level of what plasma represents. Also I'm not sure how you can say I don't have a clear grasp in comparison to yourself when you're ripping a summary from a powerlisting snippet and underestimate the potential of plasma. It's much like going from 'someone who can use plasma they absorb' (quirk-like) to 'absorbing plasma, manipulating it (which includes its many forms), shaping, and being immune to forms of it'.(edited)
  27. Like I said, if the standard is that our characters can potentially be much more destructive or onpar with main characters in the series, then so be it. I originally poked at you to give you props and raise concerns on the sole issue. I had to come to a conclusion on how quirks will be graded. I already know about OfA's application, but that quirk in itself is an anomoly and does still express transformation and emitter properties. It being used as a backing tells me that our characters can work with levels of quirk ability on that level. As for the manipulating plasma around himself, your quirk description states "can create and utilize already existing plasma upon the earth'.(edited)
  28. As for the drawbacks, they all point back to minor bodily inconveniences if they're not stamina based. The general state of plasma can take on the properties of fire, etc, and their temperates can also differ drastically. It's going from someone who can produce a flame to someone who can produce a 'flame' that can potentially freeze or burn. Plasma is a fundamental source that I'd expect a quirk to specify aspects of, not adapt the whole powerset (like in a comic book).
  29. Anyway, I'm critical by nature, so it's less affecting me but something I noticed that others probably didn't. I was more so wanting to see how you handle critiques and if you plan to allow leaps of quirk potential if a random player wanted to manipulate, absorb and shape an over-encompassing force.
  30. I made a few suggestions that never got considered such as it being a specific type of plasma, limiting the source from oneself and the environment, removing the immunity factor, etc.
  31. Anyway, if you still disagree, no need to waste your time with rebuttals. This should be enough information to address my sole concern and question.

  34. Wow.
  35. Well that sums up that. Did you actually kick me from the server or am I blind?

  40. So you block me after a civil discussion and kick me from your server as I was making my own character? Can't have it all I suppose.
