Mash through text like normal, then go to the Junior Court and do the first 3 matches and only upgrade Clay. You want to upgrade Power and Spin the most out of the main stats because they're the most important in finishing your matches quickly. Speed is also good early on, but don't upgrade too much overall.

General tips for every match:

	Holding L will make you do a diving shot. Most of the time doing this will make the ball soar over the guy in front's head, which usually means that the other person on the other team can't catch up, since he's on the opposite side of the court.

	Pressing A -> B will do a Lob Shot, which has the same effect as the Dive but it takes a little longer. It's safe though because sometimes the guy in front CAN hit the Dive Shot.

	Works better once you get farther on in the route, but

Go to Senior Courts, mash text, then go to the Training Center, then the Machine Training. Go left to 1 and do that minigame. It gives you a Power Shot, which you don't need to use, but you need it to advance in the game. Then go back to the Senior Courts and talk to Shawn to initiate your match.
