Foal Magic

>There’s no easy way to write this down.
>I’ve been drafting this document for hours, trying to find the perfect way to say what needs to be said.

>Canterlot has recently seen many foals go missing, and I am to blame.
>To any that have come across this hoping to find their loved ones, I’m sorry.

>For ages thaumaturges have been puzzled by the uncontrolled magical outbursts that a select group of unicorn foals exhibit.
>Most all modern magicians accept these outbursts as uncontrollable anomalies and leave it at that.

>I had to know what caused these spikes, why infants were capable of channeling levels of magical energy that began to rival alicorns.
>I knew through the entirety of my research what I did was wrong, but what I discovered each time I tested a foal shocked me more than the morality.
>I figured out how they did it, and I was able to refine it; to channel even more.
>The body of a foal is not able to be a conduit for such magic; they would simply disintegrate from the stress.
>An adult unicorn that is highly adept at magic is better, but still not enough.
>Artifacts would be required for the wielder to even stand a chance.
>Canterlot Castle had plenty of them.
>I have what I need to ensure my spells work.
>I just don’t know if I’ll survive it.
>I’m sealing my research into a pocket dimension that I calculate will take the power of at least two alicorns to open in a stable enough state to safely retrieve it.
>The document you’re reading will be duplicated several times and hopefully scattered to where the Tree of Harmony decides is best.
>Attached is a fragment of the spell used to open the pocket dimension.
>I’ve ensured that each fragment can reveal the entire spell with enough research, though finding every piece will work just as well.
