  1. 09:59] {LONG DISTANCE FROM: Vienna Ze Dikaru}: Vienna Ze Dikaru's Letter To Niclous Runeclaw, 2042, Sorry for the long wait I was fighting for my life. Those bastards from Dal'thala manage to assault me. while making money. Thus I'm inflicted with several injuries with burns that will leave a mark for life. My hatred for the place grows as a whole and believe the royal family needs reforming along with many others.
  2. [09:59] Zane says, "I could use a warm up actually."
  3. [09:59] Kira Isabella Hino asks, "Oh, what about the class, Niclous?"
  4. [09:59] Niclous Runeclaw says, "Oh.. Right.."
  5. [09:59] Niclous Runeclaw says, "Sounds good."
  6. [09:59] Kira Isabella Hino says, "Right then."
  7. [10:00] Kira Isabella Hino says, "Take care, Zane! Might be back in an hour."
  8. [10:01] Kira Isabella Hino says, "This seems like a good place."
  9. [10:03] Let out a sigh as he continued to read a letter he had received over and over not sure what to really say to them back.
  10. (Niclous Runeclaw)

  12.
  13. [10:13] Kira would go over towards the back of the... library? It seems like a library to her, considering how the Clinic looks like really. There's also a lot of sofa as well for many people to seat in. She would go over to the blackboard, cleaning it before handing over a book to Rowan and Niclous and started drawing,
  14.
  15. "Alright. Now, I'd like you two to take this and read Physical Injuries, Treatment Aids and Tools, and Physical Procedures. Our main subject today will be Physical Medicine." It is also her specialty too, considering that she does deal in literal Physics more than Spiritual or Magical, although the latter with a mix in her science and research,
  16.
  17. "So the thing about physical injuries is that... Even if we're magis, harms against one another is still incredibly painful and hindering. We may be different than non-magi in the sense of durability, strength, stamina and heightened natural regeneration, but damages people sustain from those like them and from the supernatural is still incredibly hindering. Like even as a magi, we are still suffering damage like normal and like other beings."
  18.
  19. "Now then, with that in mind. Suggest me three permanent physical injuries that we could only treat, but not completely heal."
  20. (Kira Isabella Hino)
  21. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  22.
  23. [10:13] Kira Isabella Hino says, "Oh, pass the book over once you're finished, by the way. I only have one of those so far."
  24. [10:21] {LONG DISTANCE TO: Vienna Ze Dikaru}: No problem with the late reply, it's not as if you have to reply to me. I was simply curious though as to why you were thrown in jail, why do you hate the royal family? I know you do not owe me an explination and that everyone has their own reason's but at one point in time I did say you may turn to me if you ever needed something.
  25.
  26. I am sorry to hear about your wounds, though I know more and more people are making a point to raid the shadow lands ever since the remnents of Abenrot had come there. Though I am a ranger of Dal'thala I don't think I could ever come to harm you if it came down to it. At least the person I remember you being back then they say time changes people but perhaps it doesn't.
  27.
  28. For me I have been looking to settle down, the life of constant battle in the wilderness is not the life I want to die in anymore. I hope that some day you can say that you have made a life you are happy for, one not filled with constant battles and the thought of revenge.
  29.
  30.
  31. [10:22] Rowan was happy to read the book. Opening it up to the first page, the Faeborne was able to read it with his finger scathing underneath every word, going forward then flipping it to the second page and repeating it again. Like a fountain awaiting water, the words poured into his mind as the teacher spoke, and he listened.
  32.
  33. When it came time for him to speak, the gracious faeborne responded accordingly with a smile that spread so wide and with the eloquence of a noble, "Limb removals can only be treated with a kit. Eye removal and ruination of the mana circuits by force greater than we can know."
  34.
  35. He could have gone on with different injuries, but if he did, he would be spending most of his day going down the book and detailing every known injury he saw during war. Luckily, he knew his limits. And it was because of that, he sat up straight and ready for the compliments.
  36. (Rowan Fernglen)

  41. [10:33] Nic listened to Kira with most of his attention being focused on her, his hand scribbling away to finish up a letter that he managed to send out via magic halfway through her short lecture. The man then folding his hands in his lap as he would listen to her, his eye focusing onto the book once she had pulled it forth. Letting Rowan take the book first Nic would maul over what Kira had said about the difference of magical and non magical wounds. The bodies of each magi still being made of flesh and blood but only able to do the feat's they did with the help of mana. At time's mana could be completely depleted leaving the body open to harm. At other times there was only so much mana reinforcement could do for the average person's body.
  42.
  43. Taking the book after the other person attending the lesson of Kira's Nic would look it over. Carefully reading about the different kinds of break's in bones and muscle tears. There were section's on disease and infection with detailed notes on how to treat each afflicted area. Nic had already learned a good deal of the practice from having watched doctor's stitch him up his whole life. His body being a walking canvas of scars. The correct methods of sterilization and cleanliness fresh in his mind from the countless times he had to have Deva and Ksceniya patch him up as he was on the verge of life and death.
  44.
  45. The importance of a kit was very well noted in the notes but Nic would then turn to Kira with his head tilting slightly for a moment wanting to ask something but after thinking it over he realized it probably had more to do with the magic that would have been used then the practice itself. Quickly scanning through detailed notes about various procedures and surgery's that could be done if the doctor was on scene when the wound occurred.
  46.
  47. With the terminology being used in the books Nic was mostly at a loss, knowing that this part of the learning process would place him below the curve having never been one to be book smart. A loud sigh of annoyance came from the Ookami as he would stand up and then go for a walk about the library of the clinic. Browsing through the section's of books that were held in the wall's.
  48.
  49. One by one he started to collect various books, ones with the term's mentioned in the summary's or the cover's of them in order to try and grasp some of the terms used in the reference book being used by his mother. "I may... Need to hold onto this book mom."
  50.
  51. He said with a bit of a defeated look on his face as he was now surrounded by a variety of text book's laid open before him. Nic reading passages from each one as he would make sense of the notes in his mind slowly.
  52. (Niclous Runeclaw)
  53. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  54.
  55. [10:44] While the two of them examined the book's contents, one of them even going so far to go around the library to make up for their lack of understanding of the textbook's contents, she hummed and started writing and drawing on the blackboard using a piece of chalk. Around fifteen or thirty so minutes before she finally looked towards Rowan and Niclous, the blackboard having been drawn up with some kits and aids.
  56.
  57. The faeborne addressed first, a smile came from her face as she listened to his answer, "Good job. That's three physical permanent injuries that can't be fully healed, but only treated, replaced. Honestly, technicality-wise, mana circuits is probably a spiritual or magical injury... Hmm..." She would hum again in thought,
  58.
  59. "But when you think about it, it still needed a trauma kit to replace the lost mana circuits that come with the lost limb or eye. So good job, Rowan."
  60.
  61. Her glance would go towards Niclous as she finished the book, while also going through many other textbooks in the meantime, "Well... Take your time on that, Nic! I've planned on like two hours or so of lesson here, so you have a lot of time." She would say as she showed them a sketch drawing of missing legs, heavily burnt arms, and even an open chest wound that almost seems to be showing broken bones,
  62.
  63. "Alright next! Tell me the steps of fixing missing limbs, third degree burns and bone fractures."
  64. (Kira Isabella Hino)
  65. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  66.
  67. [10:49] "Fixing missing limbs?" He thought it over after finishing the book, answering quickly, "The first way is to make sure that you are able to graft excess skin to make a suitable knob, then formulate a kit with the trauma kit to latch it on with some nuts and bolts."
  68.
  69. "For bone fractures, its important to place the bones together and meld them with something that could them, for example - nature's vines, or with a wood and tape. Only time can heal those fractures; or you can apply a sort of medical glue that could hold them together."
  70.
  71. "For third rate burns, the best way to do that is with skin grafting; removing the dead skin cells that will never recover and replacing it with new ones. If you are able to do that, then much like the bone fracture, you must let it heal, and allow the new skin to settle in; even if it will leave some scars."
  72. (Rowan Fernglen)
  73. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  74.
  75. [11:01] Nic took his time reading through the book's learning the term's and lingo used by those in the medical field. Bit by bit he was starting to catch onto what he was reading in the book Kira originally had showed to them. After some time she had continued on with her lesson after Rowan and her had gone over a few topics giving the ranger time to catch up. Hearing her speak about a few things that could never be fully healed his mind instant went to his eye. His thoughts thinking back to the time he was on the operating table after having his eye ripped from his skull. What was said between Ksceniya and him in regards on how to move forward with his eye and what the surgery would entail.
  76.
  77. Nic would take some time to read up on the subjects before putting the book down in front of him making it seem like he was not reading right from the pages of it. "For missing parts of the body, you should always make sure the afflicted area if clean, this be of physical or magical properties that could cause the wound to fester and surgery be needed again or worse. When it comes to replacing the limb it would depend on the tool's available to you at the time and what the wound entails. If the leg is to the point where infection has set in then your only choice may to be to remove it, sterilize the area and make sure the patient is as comfortable as possible in that situation."
  78.
  79. Looking over to Rowan he would do his best to try and not use anything the faeborn had said simply in order to make sure nothing was missed. "For fracture's and break's. Wrapping it is best yeah, but bandage rolls can fit in most people's pockets and they take up little to no room. If it's a minor fracture a simple tape job should do the trick but with more severe break's you would want to set the limb back to it's original position before restricting its movement in any way to ensure proper bone reattachment."
  80.
  81. Having a bit of trouble with the last topic he would skim through the book quickly using it as a sort of cheat sheet. "For severe burn's and even occultic burns, there can be a variety of herbs and other elixirs to help with such afflictions. Some even going as far as healing occultic burns, though holy magic is often the best for the later and over all wellspring magic for such afflictions non water magi or simply those that can't use such magic's best option is these elixir's and medicine or if all else fail's to wrap the burned area to keep the burn clean so the skin can slowly heal on it's own which can take month's and in some cases years."
  82.
  83. The man looking up from the book never knew so much thought and calculation went into medicine. Him thinking for the longest time for some strange reason that it would just come naturally to him and less thinking would be involved.
  84. (Niclous Runeclaw)
  85. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  86.
  87. [11:21] Kira would look over to Rowan first seeing that he was the one to have talked first too, hearing that he is answering exactly more or less right and by-the-book she had given out earlier. The memorization and amount of knowledge he have immediately collected right after reading it was impressive, though knowing their last encounter, he must have a lot of it too before reading them.
  88.
  89. Her head then turned to Niclous as he answered next. Explaining not only one, but three of the situation and the 'whys' to what they're doing. Incredibly detailed and Kira needed to hear it, but it is... definitely way more by-the-book than Rowan is, considering that he also did take time to look back at the book a few times to remember it.
  90.
  91. In the end, she concluded it satisfactory for the both of them,
  92.
  93. "Exactly. If the missing limb is very recent, then the first step is to make sure it is clean and sterilized. Replacing the limb with a prosthetic is not always immediate, as always with every permanent injury. Grafting or removing will also need to be done for that sake and once the place where the missing limb is finally suitable- either in the short or long duration- for prosthetic attachment, then do it so."
  94.
  95. "Time could definitely heal the bone fractures, indeed. Any form of tying up or restriction in order to make sure that it won't move or fall apart while the patient breathes is absolutely necessary. Some glue for the fractures will be useful as well. All in all, you'd want to make sure the bones are completely together and held tightly, like in a cement even."
  96.
  97. "Third degree burns, severe burns. When the skin is absolutely burnt to the point of creating dead cells. You will need to remove it and replace with new ones on top of it. But Nic, sadly it is best to not water it, or even pour anything on it, even holy, when it comes to third degree burns. For occultic burns, yes, as it cleanses the part of the burnt skin from the occultic magic that eats up on their celss. But third degree burns means that the skin cells are completely dead. Soaking it will only make it more prone to infection, and any disinfectants will only go through and into the blood."
  98.
  99. She would nod towards Niclous anyways, as a good work for the detailed and for going through many books to end up with that, "Anyways, that should be enough for today. Hope you'll all learn something from this. We'll be doing magical injuries next." As she said that, she cleaned the blackboard again and packed up her stuff.
  100. (Kira Isabella Hino)
