- Hi. I have gotten disconnected twice.
- Ryan B.
- Hi there Kelly!
- Kelly Zimbelman
- My server is doing a redirect from http to https and its causing my site to load slow. I purchased and SSL through MT and since then it loads in like 11 seconds.
- Ryan B.
- A redirect to https when using SSL is a good idea, but certainly isn’t mandatory.
- That being said, I’m seeing the site loading quickly.
- Let me test a few things.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- I get an error with my SEO : from: http://lisamjukesmd.com/ to: https://lisamjukesmd.com/
- Ryan B.
- I’m seeing the site loading in 5.7 seconds via https, which could definitely be improved but isn’t indicative of a problem with the service on our end. You can read that report here:
- I’d suggest reviewing the recommendations on that page to help speed up the site load time.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- I show this: URL Canonicalization Test
- http://lisamjukesmd.com and http://www.lisamjukesmd.com/ resolve to the same URL.
- could that be the issue. I couldn't find where to change the canonical in my account admin
- Ryan B.
- Frankly I don’t understand the question. Having your domain and the ‘www’ subdomain resolve the same place is how pretty much every site functions.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- well it says the canologic is http not https
- Canonical
- Ryan B.
- Yes a site using either http or https is fine, though redirecting the site to https isn’t a bad idea, it’s a great idea actually.
- I’m not seeing a problem with the site right now Kelly, if you have SEO questions I’d suggest speaking with an SEO expert.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- I am an SEO expert. And the site is doing a redirect from the main page from http to https
- Ryan B.
- Yes, and that’s something that would have been configured on the site itself, either via the WP home and site URL, or a plugin or .htaccess redirect.
- You have full access to the hosting service to configure that.
- That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong, SEO wise, with having a redirect to https.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- I thought there was a way to fix on the server. all htacess and configuration are top speed.
- Ryan B.
- Read
- Google themselves redirect all of their own pages to https. It’s quite normal.
- Kelly Zimbelman
- ok bye
