- I was able to get Brook to come back to the grotto with me and investigate further. We learned a lot more this time around with our joint efforts. I was right in my guess that the Skywatcher used this place to perform magic rituals and cast spells through the devices. We were able to observe and recreate one ritual, and I’ve made extensive notes on everything else we figured out. I feel we still have a lot of research to do, but time is pressing and we are heading out soon to press into the depths of the dungeon here in town.
- Notes on the Grotto:
- Smelter divine magic – might be linked to the heating
- Piston - both sonic and earth energy types
- Statue/Levers - uses the fuel put in the hopper and gives a different effect based on what fuel is in the hopper and what lever is pulled. Also, it appears that there is an antimagic ring on the button that would activate when pressed.
- Sphere – No idea on this Brook & Blossom said air magic
- Cauldron – acid and electric magic
- The alembic is typically used to filter effects out of a potion, though these magical devices seem to be connected to the others within the grotto more than any use in potion making. The Mortar and Pestle crush things in order to make them easier to mix. The Calcinator is used to burn away impurities
- Water Wheel – water and cold
- Books I can read on the shelf
- "In contemplation of the Dragon."
- "Poetry and Ramblings."
- "Music Styles of the Goblins."
- Most recent use of each device:
- She drops a lump of something charcoaled and unrecognizable into the device and crushes it, humming to herself before taking the result out of view.
- She puts something different in the Alembic and filters it through twice before taking the result.
- In the Calcinator she burns something away completely.
- The Cauldron has a gem dropped into it. It spits out a bluish sludge that she collects in a vial.
- The Sphere similarly has a gem placed inside. It drops a glowing orb into the cupped portion of the pedestal beneath it.
- She sits on the throne and breathes her last. After a few moments, her body dissolves and floats away to nothing, leaving the room sealed above her.
- The old woman drops a fistful of silver powder into the hopper and pulls the lever under the Goat's head. The Goat head opens its mouth and a silver spell hits the old woman. She places a hand over her heart and murmurs. "Soon." Before leaving the room.

- In Contemplation of Dragons:

- You're not as brave as you were at the start,
- Shake yourself and break yourself,

- Raven’s Creed
- You found this strange excerpt from a diary; the pages were torn from the book but kept together as if they were an important secret. "In his raving, my husband talked of madmen with eyes of metal and of a strange island in the skies. His words frightened me, but none more that when he clutched my arm, suddenly lucid. "It’s the Lion", he said, fever burning in his eyes. "The Lion feeds on the sun, torn from the sky. The Goat and Bowl watch and burn. Watching... waiting and active... waiting for the Lion to feed" after his recovery, my husband remembered nothing of his journey or of his ravings except one..."
- The Wintering Birds
- A note, probably written to the author as a reminder. 'It will likely break the game but with a sapphire… and care to leave the wheel, sphere, smelter and cauldron out of the process, the Goat might be able to manage. It might be worth investigating but he probably needs help from the Dragon.’
