- Why am I antifa?
- It started with Trump. Me and my friends didn't feel nearly as threatened for our actual literal lives until he was elected. It was a dreadful feeling of "oh no" but it was the start of something bigger. I'll admit, Hillary wasn't great, but she wasn't fucking Trump. Bernie was the best shot we had for something greater and the Democrats basically stabbed him in the back and it was really slimy and sketchy. But that's another debate for another time.
- We never thought Trump had a chance. He was incompetent, hateful, and acted like a whiny baby that wouldn't give up until he got his way. Then he was elected. Despite the popular vote being in favor of Hillary. Because of the electoral college. Because of another broken archaic system kept in place by the status-quo.
- Trump got this far in part because of this dank meme irony kek cuck 4chan troll culture. They wanted an underdog to win.
- Cue the rise in white nationalism.
- Suddenly a bunch of Nazis, oops I'm sorry, white supremacists, oops I'm sorry "Alt-Righters" felt validated, enabled, powerful, protected. And here's the shitty thing: they are. They advocate for a white ethnostate. They don't just want to deny rights for minorities, they want them dead. Extinct. They use buzzwords like "white genocide": a gross term to make it sound like they are the oppressed ones here.
- More Cool Shit: By and large, the Nazis are protected, or even endorsed by Trump in these little subtle nods, by inventing and echoing terms like the "Alt-Left" which doesn't fucking exist. Laws protect them. The police protect them. Protestors? We're fucked we're barely protected at all. The -only- exception has been the cops stationed at the Boston protests, because they were prepared, have experience, and know what they're fucking doing. I have no respect for cops but god damn I have immense respect for the Boston police after that day and what I saw firsthand.
- And what do the Democrats want to do? The "liberals"? They want to hear them out. They want to fucking HEAR OUT the Nazis. We literally fought a war over this already. We waited until they started exterminating jews and minorities en masse. These "liberals" want to "hear out" why white supremacists want to exterminate minorites. They want to play by the rules. Because they want to "go high" they don't want to be seen as the violent ones, the thugs. They want to debate nazis.
- Here's the problem. Nazis don't play by the same rules. And they are protected by laws, the police, and the status-quo. Already priveledged, unoppressed people leveraging that priveledge to the nth degree. Nazis aren't threatned by debates. Debates are useless. We're arguing with brick walls. They won't budge.
- These "alt-righters" drove a fucking car into a group of protestors. Someone died. They officially have blood on their hands. A whole lot of good this civil debatig has done for our cause.
- And yet, antifa are still being demonized.
- Here's the thing. Antifa doesn't take shit. Even if we're not all violent, we are angry and pissed. The THREAT of violence is there. The speakers at Boston were scared. Fucking terrified. It was 30 thousand of us versus like 5 of them. If not for the police protecting them they'd be fucking literally dead.
- We need to fight fire with fire at this point. Even if it's the very real threat of violence. The mainstream media doesn't want to admit this but violence works. Nonviolent protest hasn't done shit, it doesn't threaten these people, they will continue to multiply and oppress using the system that protects them.
- Then you've got Trump. The media outlets that support them. He uses his very convenient position of power to spin things into truths that benefit him. We call them what they are: outright lies. The democrats, the liberals, the fucking centrists and the fucking libertarians want to "debate" people and give these people a chance. They want to play a fair game while these people are constantly cheating.
- There's only so far and so long people can be pushed until there's a riot. When a system keeps you oppressed for this long there is literally no other choice.
- This brings me to antifa. They are the only movement that is actively fighting to make a difference. The DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) are fighting a similar fight, though it's against capitalism and its worst offenders, which is the tip of the iceburg. It's a system that already keeps people down and benefits the priveleged to make the fight antifa are fighting harder.
- Here's my final point. There's antifa and then there are black bloc protestors. These are often confused because they look and appear to be the same. Antifa are activists and protestors. Some antifa are black bloc, but not all antifa are. Black bloc are the ones that are willing to exert violence if absolutely neccessary. They are the ones putting themselves in harm's way, risking their lives, to punch some nazis in the face. To protect themselves, they protect their identities. The "Alt-Right" is afraid of black bloc no matter which way you slice it. They want to stop us. They will dox us, try to reveal our identities, use lies and get us in trouble. We try to protect ourselves before this happen.
- I, myself, am not a fighter. I won't resort to physical violence. Intimidation maybe. I fear for my own life and well-being, but I wield my priveledge for the greater good. I will support those who exert physical violence against nazis and protect them. I make jokes but I'm a social justice healer/cleric/bard. I'm not a warrior. I'm a writer and a healer. I use my strengths to further our cause.
- That is why I am part of antifa. That is why I support democratic socialism. Because at this point it's the only logical, sane solution to this country's problem that has grown obscenely out of control.
- I'm sure I missed some important points. Feel free to rebutt if I've missed anything.
