  2.
  3. >You groan in the sunlight, and pull up the covers to block the light.
  4. >Wait, sunlight?
  5. >In the barracks?
  6. >Someone must have blown a hole-
  7. >Why are the covers so soft?
  8. >And what is that smell?
  9. >You kick off the blanket, seeing a large, red stain on the bed.
  10. >What on Equestria.
  11. >You hear another groan next to you.
  12. >Oh god.
  13. >You know what happened.
  14. >The bar, the drinks…
  15. >OH GOD YOU DIDN’T END UP WITH A MINOTAUR, RIGHT?
  16. >YOUR ASSHOLE CAN’T BE BROKEN AND-
  17. >You immediately turn to face the creature next to you.
  18. >A pink hoof bats your nose.
  19. >You turn to see Cadance next to you, her mane all ruffled.
  20. >”Good morning, Anon.”
  21. >”Good morning?”
  22. >You turn away.
  23. >What the fuck happened last night?
  24. >Cadance curls up on your arm, and sighs.
  25. >She digs her head in to your chest.
  26. >Did you-
  27. >Yes, you did.
  28. >Fucking alcohol.
  29. >At least you didn’t have your ass ravaged.
  30.
  31. >Once you are up, you take a quick shower.
  32. >Cadance gave you this weird look the entire time.
  33. >She tried coming in your shower.
  34. >You did not need this.
  35. >You quickly dress in your own clothes again and exit the bathroom.
  36. >Cadance is back on her bed.
  37. >You really should do something about the stain.
  38. >DO YOU SMELL BLOOD?
  39. >Oh god.
  40. >You quickly remove the stain with magic, and sit by the bed.
  41. >Cadance comes up next to you, and rests her head on your lap.
  42. >”Anon, do you mean what you said yesterday?”
  43. >What did you say?
  44. >You should just ask-
  45. >”Yeah, of course I do.”
  46. >Cadance smiles, and goes up to kiss you.
  47. >You smile back.
  48. >What the fuck have you gotten yourself into this time, Anon.
  49. >Hopefully, it will not involve anything about you spending more bits.
  50.
  51. >”That will be fifty bits, sir.”
  52. >Fucking jinx.
  53. >You sigh and hand over your coin purse.
  54. >The jeweler weighs it, before shooting a glance.
  55. >You give a sheepish smile, and shrug.
  56. >He looks down on your purse and back at you.
  57. >He is keeping his poker face.
  58. >He raises a brow.
  59. >”Oh fine.”
  60. >You throw in few more bits from your pocket.
  61. >The stallion nods and smiles, before going off to serve other customers.
  62. >You quickly pocket the item and head out.
  63. >You don’t forget to grab a sandwich on your way.
  64. >Back to your favorite spot.
  65. >Under the tree, a small hill over-looking the park.
  66. >Cadance is already there, sipping on some tea, and finishing her own food.
  67. >You sprint over and sit next to her.
  68. >”It took you that long to grab a sandwich?”
  69. >You glance over to your lunch.
  70. >It wasn’t that great.
  71. >And good god, you hated dandelions.
  72. >”Uhm, yeah- I was looking for something and decided- hey, why don’t I try something stupid today?”
  73. >Cadance smiles to you.
  74. >”I think you already done that yesterday.”
  75. >She gives you the bedroom eyes.
  76. >lolwut
  77. >You can’t say much, you’re enjoying this too.
  78. >You glance over the horizon.
  79. >This is the time.
  80. >”Hey, is that Twilight over there?” You point.
  81. >”Where?” Cadance looks to your direction.
  82. >You slowly lean in closer.
  83. >”Over… there…” You continue your point.
  84. >It was actually at a group of fillies.
  85. >And you are pretty sure Twilight really is in there.
  86. >”I don’t see it.” Cadance squints her eyes, trying to focus.
  87. >”Keep looking for her.” You whisper, reaching into your pa- pocket.
  88. >You quickly pull out a small locket, a gold-chained, heart shaped necklace.
  89. >You gently drape it over her neck.
  90. >She doesn’t know- yet.
  91. >You close its locks, and let it go.
  92. >The small weight on her neck causes Cadance to look down, wondering if it’s a bug or something.
  93. >Instead, it was a heart shaped locket.
  94. >She slowly looked over to her coltfriend, Anon.
  95. >That sounded kinda weird.
  96. >You just smile like an idiot and sit back.
  97. >”Anon?” She straightens herself and looks to you.
  98. >”Yeah?”
  99. >”Is this for me?”
  100. >”For you? Nah.”
  101. >Cadance giggles, before jumping to your arms.
  102. >Of course, you weren’t ready at all.
  103. >The two of you roll down the hill, landing right next to the mud.
  104. >Whew, that was close.
  105. >Cadance, still dazzled after the fall, shakes her head.
  106. >The elastic keeping her mane falls off, letting her mane free.
  107. >”Darn, hair’s all messed up.” Cadance looks around for the elastic.
  108. >You hold her cheek, and stop her there.
  109. >”You look fine to me.”
  110. >Cadance blushes, as you go in for another kiss.
  111. >”EEEWWWWWWW”
  112. >You hear little ponies shout.
  113. >You look up to see several colts and fillies and-
  114. >TWILIGHT?
  115. >YOU JUDAS, YOU.
  116. >”Why are you eating each other’s face?!” Twilight jumps in her position.
  117. >You and Cadance face each other, before facing the children again.
  118. >”We… could-“
  119. >Cadance slips in closer.
  120. >You can feel her breath now.
  121. >”Let them watch.”
  122. >Now it’s your turn to blush.
  123. >”Shure.” You smile, going in for another taste.
  124. >The fillies gag and shriek, before running off, laughing.
  125.
  126. >The two of you lay in each other’s company, watching sunset.
  127. >It would be romantic,
  128. >If it weren’t too DAMN SLOW
  129. >Cadance levitates the locket to her face, examining it.
  130. >”It’s beautiful, Anon.” She looks at it more.
  131. >”Maybe, if I…”
  132. >Cadance’s horn glows, and the locket snaps in half.
  133. >CADANCE WHYYYYY
  134. >YOUR BITS
  135. >ALL THE SHIT YOU COULD HAVE DONE
  136. >LIKE A BETTER SANDWICH
  137. >She then surrounds it a bluish red aura, slowly inscribing energy into it.
  138. >She then touches it with one hoof.
  139. >”Go on.”
  140. >”What?”
  141. >”Touch the other one.”
  142. >You do as she says.
  143. >Each piece responds to the touch, and shivers.
  144. >It shakes, before stops glowing.
  145. >”Now,” Cadance brings one half to you. “Both of us can have it.”
  146. >You conjure a simple string and tie it over the heart piece.
  147. >You then place it over your neck.
  148. >”So, what was with all of that magic?”
  149. >Cadance lifts her piece.
  150. >”It will only respond to us, our love.”
  151. >There’s that word again.
  152. >You hold your piece, and it somehow sticks to Cadance’s.
  153. >Huh.
  154. >Guess you really were in love.
  155. >Fuck man, you’re a dude, what do you know.
  156. >But there’s this feeling.
  157. >That comforting feeling when she looks into your eyes, and you do the same.
  158. >That feeling when she smiles, when she caresses you.
  159. >That-
  160. >Goddamit man, don’t go soft on me.
  161. >Fuck you, I do what I want.
  162. >I’m not the only one you fucked.
  163. >Oh, don’t even go there.
  164. >By the time you realized you were probably staring at her for hours, it was already moon-time.
  165. >The locket still stuck to each other, radiating a golden hue.
  166. >Cadance and her trinkets.
  167. >Mares.
  168. >And on the bright side, you weren’t even drooling.
  169. >AND you were thinking deeply.
  170. >So that’s a plus.
  171.
  172. >You look over the list, checking out any possible candidates.
  173. >Dammit, Twilight and her friends managed to get themselves in the list again.
  174. >You sigh, and cross the names off.
  175. >One day, Twilight.
  176. >Straight to the military school.
  177. >Sunshine Smiles? Maybe.
  178. >Snips?
  179. >Aw what the hell, not you too.
  180. >And-
  181. >Hello.
  182.
  183. >Shining Armor.
  184.
  185. >…
  186. >Tick.
  187. >Time for some pay back.
  188.
  189. >”Good morning ladies, welcome to the army and- hello.” You walk over to Shining Armor.
  190. >He is trying to keep a straight face.
  191. >”Do I know you from somewhere?” You look down.
  192. >He is already sweating.
  193. >Oh Shining Armor.
  194. >Have to fix that now.
  195. >”What’s your name, private?”
  196. >”Sh-sh-shining Armor sir.”
  197. >”Shining Armor, eh?”
  198. >You crouch in front of him.
  199. >”Let’s test that.”
  200.
  201. >Shining ducks, narrowly avoiding the stinger.
  202. >Took you guys a while to catch a manticore, but it’s worth it.
  203. >You chuckle, sipping on some cider.
  204. >”Come on, Shining Armor, live up to your name!”
  205. >Shining jump to the side, and fires out more blasts.
  206. >You have to admit though; he was quite impressive with his magic.
  207. >You jump in, pushing the manticore back to its cage with your magic.
  208. >You look over to the other candidates.
  209. >”Now, who’s next?”
  210.
  211. >You write a letter to the princess, detailing about your training regime.
  212. >You were just doing what they taught you with.
  213. >You send it off, and sort your letters.
  214. >Junk, junk- PENIS ENLARGEMENT DEALS?
  215. >You store that away and continue.
  216. >You got a lady to handle, after all.
  217. >You notice a familiar seal on a letter.
  218. >Looks like… The Sparkle residence?
  219. >You tear it open.
  220. >Looks like mom wrote it.
  221. >The usual stuff, asking how you are doing, how’s life, have you eaten your carrots, and so on.
  222. >There is a joke about you and Cadance- apparently, everypony in Canterlot knows.
  223. >And then, a part about Shining.
  224. >He finally decided to become a guard- treat him well and other stuff.
  225. >”Don’t do it because he was your brother,” You read aloud. “Do it out of duty.”
  226. >You pause.
  227. >The candle light flickers.
  228. >Brother, eh?
  229. >You recline in your chair.
  230. >Not any more.
  231. >You neatly fold the letter, and place it in your drawers.
  232. >You needed some time off.
  233. >You also promised you’ll be visiting Twilight tonight.
  234.
  235. >You just love the smell of metals in the morning.
  236. >You and your squad proudly passed the gates, on to your first assignment.
  237. >You wanted every single recruit with you, for some real-live training.
  238. >As if the manticore was not enough.
  239. >You reluctantly brought Shining along with you.
  240. >He was silent along the way, as the rest of you excitedly chatted.
  241. >Your first assignment- work out a band of minotaurs along the border of Equestria.
  242. >Apparently, a small group of them were kind enough to set up camp in pony’s soil, and start robbing everyone.
  243. >That’s not happening in your watch.
  244. >”Guys, let me do the talking, alright?”
  245. >The group nods.
  246. >”No blind heroism. No pony gets hurt today.”
  247.
  248. >Soon, you find yourself facing the camp.
  249. >And looks like the minotaurs saw you.
  250. >You and your golden, captain’s armor.
  251. >You also proudly wore the Sparkle family insignia on your chest, some sort of a bound.
  252. >You and five guards near the camp.
  253. >The beasts are already brandishing weapons.
  254. >”Looks like the ponies got a human with them now.”
  255. >The largest one points his axe to you, laughing.
  256. >The rest of the pack follows in.
  257. >Must stay strong, must stay strong.
  258. >”Right.” You walk right into the camp, and sit on a freshly cut stump.
  259. >”Look here, gents, we don’t like you messing about, right- so, please-”
  260. >You stare right at the supposed leader.
  261. >”Leave, or we will be forced to make you leave.”
  262. >The minotaur laughs again, thundering.
  263. >Shit.
  264. >You look over to the guards, who are already afraid.
  265. >You need just need to tell the minotaur Celestia is pretty pissed and-
  266. >A single purple beam shoots out to three minotaurs, knocking them out immediately.
  267. >Your eyes go wide and you turn to the squad, and you see Shining, magic out.
  268. >Fuck, Shining.
  269. >The leader jumps a little, and you grab his collar.
  270. >You then force him down to your eye level.
  271. >”Yeah. You saw that.”
  272. >You give some stress to your voice.
  273. >”My rookie just took out three of your guys.”
  274. >You let your hand glow, basking the beast in blue light.
  275. >”Guess what I can do?”
  276. >You clench your fist.
  277. >”I can rip you limb from limb- and keep you alive, then I’m flay you with my mind so HARD your grandma will get a nice dish of you balls over at the country side. Do you want to do that to your grandma? Do you?”
  278. >”N-Not- gran-gran!”
  279. >”That’s right, you little cow. Now run off, before your grandma gets a surprise visit from you.”
  280. >The big one immediately scurries away, and the smaller ones follow.
  281. >You wipe some beads of sweat from your forehead.
  282. >That was too close.
  283. >You walk over to Shining, who is starting to tremble.
  284. >Well, he did kinda fucked it up.
  285. >You tap his shoulder pads.
  286. >”Good job, Shining.”
  287. >Well, that could not have gone any better.
  288.
  289. >”So Anonymous, how was your day?”
  290. >The sun princess looks over your report, sipping on some tea.
  291. >”I see you managed to scare away the minotaurs, no conflicts, all’s well.”
  292. >”Anything else?”
  293. >”Well…” You scratch the back of your head.
  294. >Remember, duty first.
  295. >”I would like to praise Shining Armor on his act.”
  296. >”Oh?”
  297. >You look back, seeing your squad.
  298. >Shining stares at you, confused.
  299. >”He was essential in getting the minotaurs to ‘agree’ with us. I commend him for his bravery and his initiative.”
  300. >Shining perks up.
  301. >”I don’t suppose you mind then, if I placed him second in command.” Celestia smiles.
  302. >It’s your time to perk up.
  303. >Shiiiiiiit.
  304. >Celestia dismisses you, and you silently obey.
  305. >”Anonymous.” Shining catches up.
  306. >You remain silent.
  307. >”I just wanted to say… Thanks.”
  308. >Still silent.
  309. >”You know much this means to me and-“
  310. >”I’m not doing this because it means to you, Shining.” You speak up.
  311. >He pauses.
  312. >”I’m doing this because of what you did, the sense of my own duty. Nothing more, nothing less.”
  313. >”I know that, Anon. I just wanted to say sor-“
  314. >You are already leaving.
  315. >You’re not having his shit.
  316. >You turn around one last time.
  317.
  318. >”You better live up to your name, Shining Armor.”
