Judge Toodles Galore (Logic)

I could pontificate on the philosophy of art and comedy, but ultimately I’ll grade this the same way I’ve been grading Embody Jojolities since T6R1M1: define your terms and reify the philosophy with mechanical plays. The one wrinkle is that a lot of a joke depends on how it’s told, and thus how it’s framed, so I’ll consider that a bit more than usual. Many of my comments could be couched as Narrative or Creativity, but they make more sense here.

Pluto’s jokes were played in line with his character, both with the cool, zoot suiting around and nonchalant puns and antics. The invocation of the rule of three was a fun mechanical touch, albeit one whose relevance was somewhat constrained. A solid [7] is in line, getting yanked off stage from your own finisher was the cherry on top of an oversized sundae that could be eaten in one suspiciously large bite.

I don’t think invalid plays should count for Jojolity, even when made for that purpose. Fortunately Jyotsna’s has more than enough to make up for it. While the reliance on references for some setpieces somewhat holds it back, the robustness of plays and their level of integration throughout the start—including with the text itself in some sections—earns the strat a high [8].

Judge Lola Bunny (Flamechar)

“Be funny and entertain!”

Pluto does this by making sure each action is done in a cartoonish manner as well as writing in a generally entertaining manner, with some classic hits such as a field of rakes and getting changed into richer clothes (classic Tom and Jerry shit) to name a couple examples. He also aims to use references to aid in entertainment: Kool-Aid-Manning through walls, making use of the Frozen Judges, and even grabbing some spinach just in case. Nothing that pops out in a surprising manner (except from Jyo from the gas-explosion at the end), but nonetheless this gets a solid **7** as the approach was entertaining and robust.

Jyotsna however plays much more with the stage effect for comedic effect (she turned herself into a fridge, funniest shit I’ve ever seen), acting as a full-time cartoon and pulling exceeding robust, integrated and entertaining plays - including some good surprises such as Refridjyorator and the infamous american football. As fitting of a **9**, “[the] Jojolity plays are not only integral to the strategy, but fundamentally elevate it.”

Judge Jessica Rabbit (Surface)

I'm gonna start by givng Jyotsna a **9**! A large motivator for such a high score is that there's a level of devotion in it- it's weaved throughout the strat constantly, even in the stand notes. There's a devotion to ensuring each and every play has some kind of humor value to it, even to the occasional detriment of the effectiveness of an individual move at points. Mixed with constantuseage of the match condition and stretching Jyotsna's body in cartoony and creative ways, it's the kind of jojolity that leaves me saying "I don't know what else I could really ask from you here".

While I don't think it was as interwoven as Jyotsna's was, Pluto's strat has still earned a strong **8** jojolity from me! While Jyotsna's devotion to "the bit" earned her a lot of points, Pluto still chicked his strat full of interesting and funny visuals. While I dinged the vacuum bit above from a quality perspective, in terms of jojolity I can't help but admit the mental image made me smile. The rake thing was another big point for me. I think it showed a lot of his personality in how in particular he goes about things, putting her through a Tom and Jerry wringer with Pluto starring as the titular mouse. Style, panache, and spirit. Perfecto to both teams.
