- 11 Major Gods in the Harkassian and Verpean Pantheons, plus a few minor gods I thought up
- Harkassian Name/Verpean Name (description of god's sphere of influence ; if the Verpean version differs here, it will be noted after a semicolon, like this) [god's symbol]
- 1. Ar/Ar (King of the gods. Creation, Growth, Light, Day, Hope, Promises) [the sun]
- 2. Khonsa/Onza (Queen of the gods. Time, The Tide, Cycles, Darkness, Night, Magic) [the moon]
- 3. Lapna/Lapna (Fertility, Birth, Motherhood, Beauty, Agriculture, Industry, Fruitfulness in one's endeavors ; the Verpeans don't consider her to be the goddess of beauty - that honor belongs to Isana ) [the rabbit]
- 4. Ulkos/Ulpos (Offensive Warfare, Strength, Bravery, Aggressiveness) [the wolf]
- 5. Bera/Bera (Defensive Warfare, Toughness, Bravery, Stamina, Resolve) [the bear]
- 6. Altan/Altan (The Sky, Wind, Mountaintops, Speech, Song ; also, The North) [the mountain]
- 7. Mazhan/Mazgian (Mining, Crafting, Deep Places ; also, The West) [the hammer]
- 8. Isana/Isana (Nature, Balance ; also, Beauty, though the Harkassians give the sphere of beauty to Lapna) [the flower]
- 9. Astrati/Atrate (Love, Lust, Sex, Beauty ; this semicolon doesn't represent a differentiation between the Hs and the Vs, but rather a note I want to make that multiple gods may share the same sphere (for example, look at Ulkos/Ulpos and Bera), and this is true here. Lapna and Isana may both be considered goddesses of beauty, (cont'd on another document)
- Gods and goddesses cont'd
- ... ,but Astrati/Atrate is also a goddess of beauty, and in fact was the original goddess of beauty) [the intersecting symbols for male and female that form a sort of star thing]
- 10. Khopra/Opran (The Sea, Travel ; also, The East, Patron of Immigrants) [the sea serpent]
- 11. Churvul/Ciurvul (Death, Decay, Age, Cleaning (especially in the sense of one's wrongdoings, but also sometimes in the literal sense of tidying up), Repurposing ; also, The South) [the vulture]
- MINOR GODS
- Birkhir/Biher (Trees ; also, fruit) [the tree]
- Steremnos/Termenos (Stars, Maps, Divination, Borders ; Borders, Limits, Laws) [the star]

- You are now wife and husband (because in polite Verpean society, the lady is always mentioned first). We ("royal we" though it's being used by a priest, not a king) declare that this union shall endure forever, from Mascieu (easternmost region) to Walija (westernmost region), and from Cthana (southernmost region) to Ihramula (northernmost region). If I am wrong, the Gods shall weep for three days and three nights. Hail king Roxas and queen [name], and princess Cassandra. Gods, bless this couple, bless this day, and bless this land!

- Tal Miyuko, born as Le'uno Miyuko (Miyuko, son of Uno) in 9E 756, on Washaya Island, into the Muzi tribe, was a great political and military leader. He attained the seat of Chief of his tribe practically as soon as he reached adulthood.
- As chief he led the Muzi tribe to conquer the lands of their neighboring tribes. Within two years he had the whole of Washaya Island under his rule.
- But as things were, he wasn't the true ruler of the lands - King Nduthi was. In order for the lands to truly be his, he would have to sever ties with the king. And so it was that on one fine spring morning, King Nduthi's day was ruined when he was informed that Washaya had declared itself an independent kingdom.
- That started a war, in which Miyuko and his forces showed remarkable strategic brilliance, and which he probably would have won - even with his inferior numbers and unsophisticated weaponry - had disaster not struck.
- But it did strike, and it struck hard. In 789 he was assassinated by his closest mistress, known only by his pet name for her, Chiwe, meaning gentle. On the eve of a large battle she came to see him, seduced him, and when he fell asleep she slit his throat from ear to ear. No one saw her again until much later, when she was by the king's side as he declared the official end of the war. The soldiers were promised mercy if they surrendered. About a third of the men stepped forward, and were taken into custody. The rest were gunned down there and then. The ones who surrendered bore a far more unpleasant fate, however. They were bound and brought before women, children, and elders of their villages and put to the stake and burned alive to serve as an example to never defy the crown again.

- # My Time with the H'm
- # By Azder Solokan
- ## Introduction
- Mysterious. Bizarre. Reclusive. Magical. Speechless. These are just a few words commonly used to describe the oldest and wisest of all races, known to us as the H'm. Many of us know much about them, yet most of what we think we know is false. Myths and flights of fancy. Many don't bother to find out more about them, and the H'm certainly don't encourage contact, so how would one go about learning the real facts about this enigmatic people? That's what I endeavored to find out during the spring of E9 812, and my journey since then has taught me far more than I could ever have hoped or dreamed. Though I have taken a sacred oath to not tell anyone else of some of the things which I was fortunate enough to be allowed to learn, I will share with you here what I can, and hopefully in doing so I shall be helping to create a brighter, more enlightened world.

- ## About the Author
- ..................................
- Jiit-Nark was born in Pwarpuni village, in the thick, vast forest by the same name, in the southern reaches of the Quegglewump lands, near the catland border to the southeast and the dogland border to the southwest.
- He was born to the necromancer, Jiit-Han by an unimportant slave girl who died during birth. However, "Grand Master Han", as he liked to be called, being a Necromancer, raised her up and had her be his son's undead wetnurse.
- ...............................................
- At first there were just the elves, but in the early second era there was a civil war that divided them. The winners, for a time, were called, variously, the Civilized Elves, the Enlightened Elves, the Wise Elves, and the Light Elves, though today they are known as the Elder Elves. The losers were known by a bunch of other names, too, mostly the opposites of the EEs names, but they are best known as the Dark Elves, because the Elder Elves considered them to be unenlightened savages.
- Just as early elvish society -and even, to a lesser degree, modern elder elvish society- was made up of different peoples living together as one, the Dark Elves were actually several peoples who could be divided into roughly two groups: the Wild Elves and the Scoundrel Elves.
- The Wild Elves were just as their name advertised. They showed nothing but contempt for all but the most basic aspects of civilization. They built no buildings, they shunned any tools that could not be found in nature as-is, and they had no formal laws and very few informal laws. Most went south and eventually became the Mystic Elves.
- The Scoundrel Elves were a far more civilized sort, in the sense that they built buildings (and lots of monuments), used some technology (it's not really that they rejected technology so much as learning, because in their collective cultural mindset, learned people were considered weaklings, so they wouldn't have known how to make or use complex technology), and had laws. However, they were considered a brutal people who valued the strength of nature, as opposed to the more learned and generally more peaceful Elder Elves, who valued its beauty. The Scoundrel Elves mostly went west to become the Giants, the Orcs, the Goblins, and the Trolls.
- The Wild Elves and Scoundrel Elves who stayed together raised and lowered their civilization, respectively, and became the short-lived Imperial Elves, whose ambition it was to spread their culture throughout the entire world, but while their passion and ambition were high, their skills were not. The first few skirmishes with the little border villages around them went okay, but their forces crumbled in their first real battle, when an army of angry humans came to defend their lands. Defeated and humiliated, the Imperial Elves went back home to lick their wounds and to try to figure out where it all went wrong. There was much infighting, and someone ended up killing the leader who had no spouse, no children, or anyone whatsoever who'd been named to take his place, so there was even more infighting to determine who would take over the throne. That ended up being the high priest of a demonic cult, who besought his master to help them to become more powerful than their enemies. The demonic semi-deity-thing turned them all into vampires. Thus they became the Blood Elves, and it was they who first spread vampirism throughout the world.
- Earlier in history, the dwarves had had a large and dramatic disagreement that wasn't quite a civil war, but may have eventually come to it, given enough time. This disagreement led to the first split known to dwarvenkind since their forefathers had split off from the rest of their kind and became the dwarves. It would not be the last such split, but this one would be the only one to produce a new race. The dwarves who left went and settled some land nearby and in time became the Gnomes.
- This is important because some of the Mystic Elves had started to see the world in a different way than their compatriots, so they left and settled up north near the recently formed gnomish kingdom. There was interbreeding, and that gave rise to a new hybrid race known to us as the Quegglewumps.
- A few centuries later, the Mystic Elves split into the Fairies and the Pixies.
- Around that time, or perhaps slightly later, the Elder Elves experienced a period of famine during which many voluntarily left to go settle elsewhere so as to lessen the number of people to feed, or fled to other lands to avoid the famine. Many of the people leaving also held differing views than those enforced by the monarchy, and probably longed to live somewhere in which they had the freedom to openly express and act according to those views. They each went to where they most wanted to be. Those that went to the mountains became the Stone Elves (aka Under Elves, aka the Drau/Drow), those that went and carved out a place for themselves in the desertous deep south became the Sun Elves (who eventually split into the Fire Elves and the Sand Elves), those who stuck to the sunny western coasts became the Sea Elves, those who went to live down in what is now Quegglewump lands became the Plain Elves (aka Mud Elves), those who went to the frozen north became the Frost Elves and the Sky Elves (who, growing weary of all the snow and ice, used their magic to build a kingdom in the sky), and those who settled in the great forests of the world became known as the Wood Elves, though there are multiple independent kingdoms of such.
- .........................................
- Story of how the Quegglewumps were introduced to necromancy and other malicious magics (let's call it The Man and The Raven)
- [The historical document off of which this version is based (historians aren't quite sure if it was the one penned by the original author (believed to be the classic storyteller, Sung-Rambi, who's as big to the Quegglewumps as Aesop is to us) or merely the oldest surviving copy) is believed to have been made some time between the 2nd and 3rd centuries of the 6th Era]
- Long, long ago, long before the grandparents of the grandparents of the oldest grandparents of today were born, there was a kindly Quegglewump scholar named Nol-Phan.
- Nol-Phan was learned in many subjects from Grammar and Foreign and Historical Languages to Mathematics to Science to History. The one thing he studied which truly set him apart from his contemporaries was Magic. Back then very few peoples besides the Dzakangzi/"Jakanzi" (e.g. the H'mm) were learned in the magical arts. Some of those who had learned how to use magic had taken to setting up hermitages and taking young people as apprentices.
- Nol-Phan was one such apprentice in his youth. Eventually he learned all he could from his master (historical note: most versions leave the master's name out as unimportant information, but some versions identity him or her as a Faery named Lorahnael) and left to learn more on his own.
- One aspect of magic which he excelled at beyond all others was the art of forging a sort of link between his and another's mind, allowing him to communicate with animals.
- This ability had served him well over his many years, allowing him to discover many interesting facts and secrets which he normally never would have.
- Some animals came and went, but there were others who fed him information regularly. One such regular informer was a raven named Akha'i.
- Akha'i, as Nol-Phan eventually learned, was once one of the Rayame, one of the original six peoples of the world, whose punishment for their involvement in the great trespasses against the gods was to be turned into ravens.
- Nol-Phan may have known much, but he was entirely too trusting. He knew well what the Rayame and four of the five other tribes had done, but even then those events were ancient history and he figured that they must have changed their ways over the millennia, so he spoke with him freely.
- That was the greatest mistake of his life.
- Over the course of three decades, Akha'i slowly corrupted Nol-Phan's mind, progressively turning his lessons to darker and darker subjects. In this fashion he eventually began to teach him the art of necromancy, and it wasn't long before he became a master of the subject, and much to Akha'i's surprise and dismay, he placed a spell on his mind to turn him into his faithful servant, having exhausted his usefulness to him as a teacher.
- The people around Nol-Phan had long been fearful of him, calling him Knoi-Arna ("Imposter of the house of Evil") because he was basically a stranger wearing a familiar face and he was evil.
- Anyway, he went on to be the first of the Quegglewump necromancers, starting his own coven and, upon dying, attaining an almost god-like status among necromancers. .

- # Story Of The Serpent Striders
- ## The Story Of Rinx
- In the Beginning there was the empty universe, called El. From its void arose three primal forces: Oxa, the Primal Force of Order, Naya, the Primal Force of Chaos, and Tiu, the Primal Force of Balance.
- These three beings circled around each other in a kind of grand cosmic dance for an interminable length of time, generating infinite ideas.
- Of these ideas, the one that Oxa liked best was Darkness, for it was ever still and unchanging, so he took the form of Shadow. Being ever the contrarian, Naya preferred the idea of Light, always shifting, forever disrupting the darkness, so she became the stars. Tiu took no form, but instead chose to stand between them, maintaining balance between the two for all eternity.
- Things were rather uneventful after that for a long time until some of the ideas, stronger than the others, developed consciousness and became the 5 Primitive Gods. There was Keya, whose sphere was water and all other liquids, Maotl, whose sphere was everything solid, Waya, whose sphere was air and all other gasses, Feo, whose sphere was all mundane energies, and Kaan, whose sphere was magical energy.
- The five worked together to make real all the other ideas their creators had thought up. They succeeded in realising an immensely large number of them, but not all. However, they had realised so many ideas that with them they were able to craft an entire world, and in that world they made their home, and it was called Ihlakumba, the Divine Realm. Here they built a vault wherein they stored all the ideas they had yet to realise.
- Thenceforth they spent much more time enjoying their new world and much less time realising ideas, until eventually they lost interest and instead focused on how they could improve this world. The answer came one day when Kaan took one last idea from the vault: Life.
- The answer was so simple they had overlooked it time and time again, but now that they were aware of just how barren their world was they simply had to create inhabitants for it.
- They started with the flora, more various and more wonderful than any plant life ever found -or ever will be found- on any mortal world, and then created the beasts, some delightful and others horrendous, but all spectacular. Lastly, they joined their essences together and begat 16 children, and they were the Elder Gods.
- Looking upon their offspring they all came to a silent agreement: their world was complete. But there was still one more thing to be done. They knew that these beings would beget more beings, and so decreed that they should have rule over this world and over any future generations, and they fashioned for them sixteen glorious crowns.
- To adorn these crowns they each split their spirits into sixteen parts, and each Primitive God's 1/16 part came together, forming sixteen Primordial Gems. From within these gems the Primitive Gods were able to admire their world and the future works of their children forevermore, and in addition to looking pretty, the gems also considerably bolstered the new gods' powers.
- With these powers the Elder Gods created a mighty civilisation of gods and split the land into sixteen equal parts and each god ruled their land in their own way, and each found their own affinity over the years.
- Rahex became the god of Creation and Destruction.
- Marna became the goddess of Time.
- Jugar became the god of War.
- Elkal became the god of Wisdom and Knowledge.
- Eshel became the goddess of Love and Beauty.
- Zatkar became the god of Crafts and Labour
- Maoli became the goddess of Justice, Mercy, and Civilisation
- Teneri became the goddess of Nature, Growth, and Health
- Sanu became the goddess of Language
- These nine are collectively known as the Virtuous Gods.
- Alaya became the goddess of Lust and Temptation
- Yero became the hermaphroditic deity of Envy
- Rio became the god of Greed
- Narm became the god of Gluttony
- Sid became the god of Sloth
- Mimi became the goddess of Pride
- Khan became the god of Wrath
- These seven are collectively known as the Sinful Gods.

- # The Tale of Boatron
- ## By C.S Allan
- There once was a robot of great renown and skill,
- Who with very little effort could become a boat at will,
- With thousands of victories there seemed no end to the fame,
- Of this mighty metal hero of whom Boatron was the name,
- He slew a horde of demons with his god-like boat powers,
- He saved the whole world from an army of evil flowers,
- But the story, I feel, that trumps all the rest,
- Is of the one and only foe that Boatron couldn't best,
- It was a dark and gloomy Thursday on which Boatron met his fate,
- He had a meeting with the president for which he was running late,
- He was running along and wishing for a river,
- When he stopped in his tracks, having felt a shiver,
- A shiver always meant that nearby there was a crime,
- He looked at his watch ; Did he have the time?
- Of course he did! Justice couldn't wait,
- Even if that meant the president would be irate,
- Rushing to the scene, he saw an old lady quite distressed,
- Some scoundrel had robbed her,
