  9. 6:31 - Operator: Hello, this is the 911 agency for Springfield County. What is your emergency?
  10. 6:31 -Caller: Hello, some strange man just left our house. I think he may be a thief.
  11. 6:31 - Operator: What did he look like?
  12. 6:32 - Caller: He was average, I guess. I would say around 40s-50s, white male.
  13. 6:32 - Operator: Who was he with?
  14. 6:32 - Caller: I don’t think anyone, at least I didn’t see anyone. I mean, I didn’t answer the front door, so I don’t know…
  15. 6:32 - Operator: Who let him in? Did he break in?
  16. 6:33 - Caller: I mean, I did let him in through the back door. He just said he wanted to see the house.
  17. 6:33 - Operator: Did he give a reason why?
  18. 6:33 - Caller: Well, it was his childhood home. You know, I guess he was feeling nostalgic.
  19. 6:33 - Operator: Did you hear a car start when he left?
  20. 6:33 - Caller: No.
  21. 6:33 - Operator: Do you notice anything out of place, anything missing, anything there that wasn’t there before he came?
  22. 6:33 - Caller: Well, I’m in the kitchen now, but give me a second, I can check for you.
  23. 5 minutes later:
  24. 6:34 - Caller: No, I don’t think anything’s gone. What should I do?
  25. 6:34 - Operator: I’ve dispatched a cruiser just to check out the area. Stay at home for now, and make sure you know where your family is
  26. 6:34 - Caller: Wait, I think I hear something from the basement..
  27. 6:34 - Operator: Stay where you are. The police will be there any minute.
  28. 6:34 - Caller: Sorry for disturbing the family. You’re the police, right? I don’t mean any harm, I just want to see the basement. I want… I want to be a child again, and just sit on those stairs, just one more time. It’s no big deal, really, it isn’t! I just want to sit on those steps.
  29. 6:34 - Operator: Sir? Sir, if you do not vacate the premises immediately, the police will come for you, and you will face charges.
  30. 6:34 -Caller: I’m sorry, I really am. But.. but I can’t just leave where I lived as a boy. Is that really such a big deal?
  31. 6:34 - Operator: You trespassed on private property. Please leave.
  32. 6:34 - Caller: It’s too late. I’m home again. Don’t come for me. You’ll just be wasting your time.
  33. 6:34 - Operator: Sir? Dispatch is on it's way

  40. On the 15th of November at 6:31 a woman called reporting suspected theft in her home. When the cruiser arrived, the reported thief was no longer on the premises. However, neither were any of the family members witnesses reported living in the house. The door was pried open, but the inside of the house did not match the description provided by the residence. Instead, it was full of decor of a 1940s townhouse. It was spotless, without any dust or disorder. However, all the family portraits did not contain the family. Instead, they contained an unknown photo of a boy and his mother. The bookshelf in the first floor living room had 56 books, by various authors and on various subjects, but all the pages were blank. The only text found was a newspaper clipping tucked inside a book on fractal patterns, notably the Sierpiński triangle in particular. The clipping was dated May 15, 1949. It described the homicide of a boy and his mother by the father. There is no official explanation for these events, and the case remains open. Any with an explanation on how the house’s situation or it’s inhabitants should report it to the Springfield Police Department.
