Vandalieu turned sixteen months old in October. As autumn began to turn into winter, he finally reached the eastern end of the country of Mirg.

Further east than this, the land was ruled by nature and filled with Devil’s Nests. Vandalieu had to get through that and then cross the mountain range.

However, as it was ill-advised to attempt to cross the mountain range during winter, Vandalieu decided to hide in the surrounding forests while attacking nearby bandits until spring, just as he was doing now in a thicket near a Devil’s Nest, waiting for the sun to go down.
