- Alright, rant time here:
- Today in my stream, I had a few people who were trolling me. Normally, this is all well and good, but two of them actually kind of got under my skin a little bit.
- One: A guy begged and pleaded for me to make a character modeled after him (It was Sims 4, and I had made some after other viewers earlier in the stream, but wasn't doing it anymore, was making ones after celebrities), and when I told him no, he immediately plays the race card: "IT'S BECAUSE I'M BLACK ISN'T IT FUCK YOU TYPICAL TEXAN".
- Now, the problem I have with this is that for one, I have no idea who this guy is so there's actually no way I could have even known he was black, assuming that's even true. For two, people who immediately play the race card when there's no racism present are only perpetuating racism -- they WANT there to be racism present so that they can 1) get their way, and 2) make the other person feel guilty without good reason. Playing victim of racism perpetuates racism just as much as actively being a racist does.
- Two: Someone, who has been actively trolling my stream for a week or two now on a variety of accounts (linking screamer images, playing incredibly racist songs on my plug.dj and forcing me to lock it from the public, etc.), got butthurt and we went on a banning spree of all his accounts. On one of them, just before being banned, he accused me of 'faking' my charity streams and taking the money for myself.
- This is the one that actually pissed me off. Yes, there do (unfortunately) exist unscrupulous streamers who will exploit the community and pretend that a stream is for charity and actually take the money for themselves. However, they're easy to spot:
- 1) If a 'charity stream' EVER asks you to send the money to the streamer directly, it's probably a fake.
- 2) If they ARE legit, in the same vein as 1), they will likely be linking to a known, verifiable charity -- for instance, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Child's Play, or Extra Life are the three most common that streamers and Youtubers will support. Their links will go directly to those pages and the donations will go straight to the charities in question.
- I've raised over $300 for Extra Life and Children's Miracle Network over the course of two 24-hour straight streams and one 12-hour stream in the last 6 months. It's a little infuriating for someone to think that it's all fake, even if they're only a troll.
- Sorry for the rant everyone, thanks for reading if you got to this point. Just needed to vent.
