- #MWE August #8
- Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory
- From 2022 to 1970, I begin the 70s section of my month with the final classic album by the beloved American band CCR. And for the most part, it fucking rules. Some awesome groove patterns on the drums, nice old-school and blues-y guitars riffs with a real country grit to them, including an awesome stuttering effect on the opener Ramble Tamble while the electric guitar just slays over it. I would also be dumb to miss talking about the 11-minute cover of Marvin Gaye's I Heard It Through the Grapevine that magically doesn't suck. Ooby Dooby is such a fun little rock n' roll dance tune with laser fire drumming. There's just a lot of nice instrumental moments all throughout this album. But honestly have nearly all the songs be over 7 minutes or under 3 and half minutes is not a great way to structure the album, Cosmo's Factory has some pacing issues. But that is more nit-picky than anything. The album is great, really enjoyed this.
