  1. Nayan
  2.
  3. A homunculus created by the witch Tsajasuna, around 200 years old (so young in terms of supernatural creatures). Tsajasuna is a witch obsessed with immortality, going so far as to become a creature of the night and consort with Daedric Princes in order to gain more and more knowledge. Out of frustration due to a lack of progress in her research, she decided to try to create a progeny - luring one of the greedier Princes to aid her in her ritual, Tsajasuna binded Namira (the Daedric Prince of darkness and revulsion) to an altar deep underground and forced the Prince to help her "create" a living being. Daedric Princes - and Daedra as a whole - are unable to create, only destroy. Tsajasuna hoped that by forcing Namira to help her and inadvertently "create" something, some divine law or earthbone would break or warp in some way. Something fantastical and unexplained would occur. This did not happen.
  4.
  5. Instead, Namira filled the vessel on the altar with her essence while Tsajasuna recited the unholy necromantic incantations she had become brilliant with. After the mass on the altar writhed and was filled with unlife, Tsajasuna wrapped the mass in a beautiful porcelain skin she had collected from the darkest corners of society and sewed the creature up with magical threads and seals. The result was a homunculus - an artificial creature - but it was abhorrent. The creature was both genders at once, was mad and had an insatiable lust for living flesh. Tsajasuna had created a monster.
  6.
  7. Tsajasuna took the creature home, and tried to raise it, but it was difficult. A vampire's survival is based on how she flits effortlessly in and out of human and vampire societies, keeping to the shadows and using her keen senses and intelligence to survive. The homunculus had no such subtlety - it tore anything living apart to sate it's hunger, living purely on its desires and inspired revulsion in human and vampire alike. It had low intelligence, no social graces and struggled to hide it's lack of humanity.
  8.
  9. She had christened the homunculus "Nayan" (a palindrome that she thought fitted its dual-nature) and referred to it as male for simplicity's sake. Nayan eventually learned to control his urges somewhat, but his dark nature was too much for the old Khajiit. She eventually abandoned him, too tired to deal with the authorities, assassins and bounty hunters that were constantly after them both. He was a failure, and she left him to die.
  10.
  11. It was then that Nayan learned he was truly immortal, as no sword or arrow could kill him. Blades would immediately corrode and rust once they touched his black blood. Arrows would rot and drop out of his wounds. He would throw up any poison given to him. Magic would slow him for a day or two, but nothing could truly damage his beautiful skin or the hideous bubbling filth inside him. When he would be captured and thrown in jail, he wouldn't starve or break. The unlucky vampires and werewolves that tried to consume him would choke on his blood. Tsajasuna has created something that would never truly die, that would forever be alone. Nayan would outlast everything.
  12.
  13. He was a success.
  14.
  15. This discovery led Nayan to an epiphany - he had time. He had all the time in the world. There was no rush for him to do anything. This maturation led him to hold off on attacking everything in sight at every moment, and he learned to kill when less people would see him. He learned to drag his victims somewhere quiet to feed. He developed an interest in clothing and jewelry. Although never truly welcomed anywhere, he learned to walk among people and even gain the affections of some of them, although they all met grisly ends. He even found a place to live, deep in a dark forest where he could practice magic and read through some of his mothers' old books she had left behind. He found that dark, shaded places calmed his fragile mind. Although he knew the origin of his birth, he never called to Namira or went looking for Tsajasuna. However, word reached even him that a witch had started living somewhere in Tamriel - a Khajiit witch, old and alone, living on a withered mountain top in a place called Skyrim. His half-mad mind remembered his "mother" and he smiled - he would show her that he was not a failure. Picking up his gnarled black sword and black armour, the homunculus makes his way towards the domain of the Nords.

  19. More personal details.
  20.
  21. Nayan is not stupid, but can be outwitted. If someone is unlucky enough to come across him, he can be tricked quite easily if the prey can keep their cool. Merchants and traveling troupes and the like have been able to distract him with dances, clothes and jewelry. This also means he won't be taking over the world or raising an army anytime soon - he simply doesn't have the patience or knowledge to do it.
  22.
  23. Never experienced childhood, so he is emotionally stunted and can't control his emotions very well. Cannot empathize or sympathize with others. Angers easily. Manipulated by Tsajasuna to have unquestioning obedience and love for her.
  24.
  25. While not consciously an evil character, his dark birth puts him at odds with the world around him. Unfortunately, Nayan likes eating people (blame Namira) and he is more or less completely driven by his wants and needs. A complete hedonist. An extreme example of poor impulse control. He will hurt others if it means he gets what he wants. This also makes him a terrible thief of jewelry and shiny trinkets. Perhaps a trait he has inherited from his "mother", Tsajasuna.
  26.
  27. He is quite narcissistic and is enraptured by things like beauty, perfection, symmetry, high-quality furs, rare armours (Ebony is his favourite), the stars and the moons. This can be used against him by those clever enough. His jealousy/love/hate/lust for Mordessa can only be described as obsessive. Gender doesn't matter to him in terms of attraction, neither does race.
  28.
  29. Quite literally male and female at the same time. He has *everything*. His voice can also be mistaken for a man or a woman and he has become quite good at mimicry. Takes pleasure in tricking people into making them believe he's something he's not i.e. pretending to be a Vigilant/Mer/girl/boy/noble/common folk. This is usually how he hunts in cities and towns. He enjoys bedding his prey beforehand as he finds food and sex give him the same feelings of pleasure (one of the few emotions he can feel). Uses his prettiness to gain footholds in certain circles. Sociopathic, if naive and never truly welcomed anywhere.
  30.
  31. Looks down on vampires and doesn't eat them. Takes it personally when people assume he is one. There is nothing beautiful about Molag Bal and his children. He doesn't worship Namira, but does share an affinity with aspects associated with her i.e. rot, darkness, insects, eating living flesh, greediness. He is a voracious hunter and predator. Daedric Realms tend to draw out his true form as the seal on his back is slightly weakened, usually resulting in black appendages i.e. tentacles, pincers, mandibles tearing through his back and mouth.
  32.
  33. Namira cares nothing for him, as he has no soul, thus he is useless. The shard/slime/essence of her inside that keeps Nayan "alive" is always looking for a way to escape its marble prison. Tsajasuna is the only being who could ever reverse the effects of the spell that permanently keeps the piece of Namira binded, but this would result in Nayans "death" and she would never kill her child and masterpiece.
  34.
  35. Inspired by the real-world mythology of the golem. Has a "shem" - it's the runic symbol carved onto his bottom lip. Can only be truly killed if this shem is removed from him, which only Tsajasuna can do.
  36.
  37. Nayan likes cats and finds them cute. Fairly high chance of him not eating one if he saw it. Keeps two cats he found in his retreat. He also collects dolls.
