- In this wall of text, I will be comparing the two soundtrack releases of Worms 2, to determine what is different, and what is missing, from each release.
- For reference purposes, this is the CD being talked about: https://www.discogs.com/master/1518307-Bj%C3%B8rn-Lynne-Worms-2-Original-Game-Soundtrack
- With a YouTube video containing all of its contents here, for you to listen to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6fAggc37Z4
- And then this is the Bandcamp release: https://drawesome.bandcamp.com/album/worms-2-original-game-soundtrack
- With that cleared up and out of the way, lets get to actually comparing them, shall we?
- Firstly, the Bandcamp release includes the music for the intro to the game, which the original CD lacked. It also includes Underground Activities, a song featured in other Worms Bandcamp releases, as well.
- Vs. the original CD release, and the music used in the game itself, the left and right audio channels have been swapped.
- Songs appear to be "unmastered", or have different mastering between the original CD, and the Bandcamp release. In addtion, tracks do not have the fade out applied. This link compares the original CD (top), vs. the Bandcamp release (bottom): https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/661848856685707266/924262131514372146/unknown.png
- Vs. the original game and original soundtrack CD, the Bandcamp release is missing the songs "Swim Like A Brick", and "Yesterday's Hero" (otherwise known as "Pink Bravery", on the original CD release), meaning the Bandcamp release is incomplete, in terms of having songs actually used in the game.
- Vs. the soundtrack CD, the Bandcamp release is missing some songs that were labled as being for Worms 2, on the original soundtrack release. These songs include "Worm Shack", "Worms of War", and "The Gunner and the Goo". Curiously, despite that original CD labeling them as "taken from Worms 2", the tracks were never used in the final game. Maybe Lynne never got the memo about that?
- The CD release also includes "Worms 2 Bonus" songs, which are described as "written for Worms 2, but not included in the release version of the game". Of these 3 tracks, only the one called "Squish!" is missing from the Bandcamp release.
- The Bandcamp release of the Worms 2 soundtrack has this to say about the old CD release: "Please note that this digital download album is *not* the same as the physical CD "Worms 2 Soundtrack" released by Synsoniq Records in 1998. The Synsoniq CD had some additional remixes that were not produced by Bjorn Lynne, and had some bonus music from older Worms games. This is a new digital-only album containing only the music from the actual video game, "Worms 2"."
- Finally, considering how some of these songs included were never used in the original game, alongside the fact that the release is missing songs that were labeled as being for Worms 2 (see for yourself, if you must: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/661848856685707266/924266076236300308/Bjorn_Lynne_-_Worms_2_OST_-_pages_04-01.jpg ), it all around makes for a weird, incomplete release, which is weird, since the other Worms games don't really have this issue, minus Worms 3D, which has a few songs missing, due to misplaced masters.
- In conclusion, if you want the complete package of songs, you will want to go and seek out the original soundtrack CD. If, however, you don't care for the missing tracks, then you can just get the Bandcamp release.
