The Pentagram is a five-pointed star-shaped emblem drawn with five straight lines. The word pentagram itself comes from the Greek πεντάγραμμον (pentagrammon), the verb form of πεντάγραμμος (pentagrammos) or πεντέγραμμος (pentegrammos), a word that has the meaning of "five-line" or "five lines".

The name indicates that the pentagram is not just a five-pointed star: this symbol should consist of five lines, so the pentagram should show the inside.

The planet Venus and Venus worship have been associated with pentagram since ancient times. When viewed from the Earth against the backdrop of the star (Zodiac), Venus forms a five-pointed star around the Sun once every eight years, and returns right to its initial position after a forty-year cycle.
