Dark Gate Ronpa – Part 1 Prologue

It is a simple fact of life that if a talent exists, then by all rights someone must be the most talented person of all people who share that talent. There is only room for one at the top, there are many Runners, but there is only one greatest runner.  This is simply how the world works.

That is why, far from prying eyes, in an otherwise normal Japanese town, the Hope’s Gate academy was created, To find those whose skills almost reached the supernatural, to help them become the kind of people who could become the future of all humanity, the best of the best, the cream of the crop and the hope of all mankind.

Which is why it’s weird you are standing outside of it. You are Ryoji Shida, and apparently you are the “Ultimate Delinquent” whatever the hell that means. You don’t exactly get how the hell you fit into the whole “best of the best” thing, Like the title says you are a god damn delinquent, not some leader of the free world.

And yet here you are standing in front of the huge building that you had gotten the strange letter from.  Inside it had claimed to be a specialist school, created only for the best students across the country, and not only that but a full free ride.  Your parents had jumped at the chance, but honestly you had your doubts. Far as you could tell the credentials the school had claimed to have were real, but there was no denying one thing, no one had any info on Hope’s gate academy, the only thing you could find was that it was new, very new.

But there was no denying that a free ride through all of High school and Uni was a tempting offer, so you decided, you would go to this damn school, and if it turned out to be some kind of stupid scam, well then you’d just have to show whoever was behind it what the title of Ultimate Delinquent meant!

…Not that you actually knew what it particularly meant, they were the ones who gave you this damn title. It’s not like being a Delinquent ever got you anywhere in life.  You just chose to live how you felt and damn anyone who tries to stop that. But that’s enough procrastinating. You have an ass kicking appointment.

Both hands in your pockets you sharply kick the double doors in front of you open, a large crash ringing out as the doors slam into the walls either side of you and revealing a large hall in front of you. You stride forward towards the group, taking heavy steps, first impressions are everything and you want these damn idiots to know not to fuck with yo-

And then the world twists in on itself, and you fall.
