- This is my journal, my retreat. My gift to you. I have no idea who you might be, what kind of person you are, what kind of life you lead. Would you understand? would you even care?
- I will be long dead before you read this, but the words contained within are no less important. An incredible journey, and a devastating truth. I hope with all my heart that you will fair better then I in your quest for truth. Enclosed are various documents I have discovered, and although I recount my journey from memory alone I assure you of it's authenticity. It is imperative you read these words carefully. One day, it might just save us all.

- 21/07/2060: Initial testing has confirmed that the Eris contagion is present in both Argentina and Brazil. The relationship of the 8 infected patients suggests that person-to-person transmission has occurred. Patients quarantined pending further investigation. Contagion has yet to be detected outside of the 8 infected.
- 28/07/2062: Confirmation has been received that the Eris contagion is spreading throughout the populations of Argentina and Brazil via fomite, new reports of infection in Peru/Venezuela/Colombia. Recommended that North/South American border be temporarily closed until a vaccine is found.
- 10/10/2062: A vaccine has been deployed throughout south American infected zones, quarantine is holding. No reports of infection north of the quarantine zone.
- 03/01/2063: Vaccine ineffective, the contagion has mutated and become airborne. Reports of infection in Panama, north of the quarantine zone. 60% of south American populated infected or dead. Recommend military action to halt spread of contagion further north.
- 01/02/2063: Reports of infection in Mexico, Panama military quarantine breached. 90% of south American population infected or dead. Situation critical, Ark's must be sealed immediately.
