When her boyfriend dumps her, Emily, a spontaneous woman in her 30s, persuades her ultra-cautious mom to accompany her on a vacation to Ecuador. At Emily's insistence, the pair seek out adventure, but suddenly find themselves kidnapped. When these two very different women are trapped on this wild journey, their bond as mother and daughter is tested and strengthened while they attempt to navigate the jungle and escape.
I've certainly seen worse. I thought it was reasonably amusing at times. To be sure, Amy Schumer only seems to have one persona, (the one from Trainwreck) which she plays here, but that can be said about a lot of actress/comediennes. Goldie Hawn has definitely done better work, when she had better material. Like others, I wonder why she chose to do this film. Some funny stuff from supporting cast Christopher Meloni, Wanda Sykes, et al.
After seeing so many 1 star ratings and reviews, I had to throw my 2 cents in. I was laughing the entire time. Not sure why other people didn't find it funny and I don't see how it's racist. Maybe I'm naive. It's not winning any awards, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so much funnier than trainwreck which I found overly vulgar.
