  1. <azureTradition> Hello
  2. <abstersiveTournure> Ah, hey! Belated on account of doing things. What's up?
  3. <azureTradition> Pretty well, using what I know of psychology to help me along with Verin.
  4. <abstersiveTournure> Ooh, fun. What kind of psychological things?
  5. <azureTradition> I'm trying to get his temperament down, and I do have one thing set down in stone
  6. <azureTradition> He hasn't really grown out of suffering from separation anxiety, funny enough he acts as a guardian to his weird group of friends when he's older
  7. <abstersiveTournure> I can picture that, with him. Incidentally, that's somewhat like the situation with my version of Vergil as a teenager -- he and Dante both have pretty major separation anxiety issues regarding one another, and Vergil tends to be very protective of what friends he does make (to the point of irrationality).
  8. <abstersiveTournure> I imagine that would be a result of growing up in relative isolation with a limited group of people, with Verin? It's hard for him to know what to do without them?
  9. <azureTradition> Yeah, that and with all the things trying to kill him, it would not be good for him to be cut off from his friends, because they might wind up dead themselves, the last time that happened ended up with a massive body count. Speaking of friends, he really doesn't like the idea of befriending everyday people because the pressure is on him if things get violent.
  10. <azureTradition> He usually advises everyone who can't hold themselves in a fight to clear out. He really can't handle things when civilian blood is spilt
  11. <azureTradition> The only time he'll let someone get involved in a fight, is when he knows he can't do it alone, he has gotten roughened up a few times due to not thinking he's going to need help.
  12. <abstersiveTournure> Vergil usually either scares away or actively avoids making friends, but he'll protect Dante and the friends he has with little regard for scruples. His moral compass in general is a little skewed in that he views protecting what's important to him as most important, and while he honestly hates himself for that, he's willing to be that loathsome as long as those he cares for are safe (and happy).
  13. <abstersiveTournure> Does he ever know he probably needs help and reject help anyway? Self-sacrificial kind of thing?
  14. <azureTradition> Verin is amiable sadly enough there is a high chance that he may scare people off since in most fights he's gotten into he has been shown as very brutal. He has faced moments where he is aware of a one-sided battle but refuses help on a few reasons, he is willing to sacrifice himself if needed
  15. <azureTradition> Usually the most common reason for him refusing help is personal reasons. The scar on his right palm links back to it and the whole event that basically strengthened his separation anxiety and his overprotective nature
  16. <abstersiveTournure> Is he ordinarily paranoid or anything? Vergil usually ends up being that way for me -- Teengil recently basically acted like he was going to injure someone purely because he thought they were acting vaguely suspicious and his friends might be in danger. He actually just intended to defend himself if needed and get the guy to tell him what his deal was, but
  17. <abstersiveTournure> He did end up wanting to kill him as a result of extenuating circumstances that exacerbated his paranoia.
  18. <azureTradition> He constantly bogged down by the fact no one's safe around him, he has no idea who to trust so most of the times he acts if strangers are almost always enemies until proven otherwise.
  19. <abstersiveTournure> Basically Teengil!
  20. <azureTradition> Huh, never realized it but yeah it seems so
  21. <abstersiveTournure> That's okay, though. For one, they're close relatives so it's unsurprising; for two, it's usually the smaller differences that really distinguish the characters.
  22. <abstersiveTournure> My headcanon for Vergil is that he's a history -- specifically war history -- buff. Also the more obvious reading and probably a knack for all things intellectual.
