  1. Abazon's active interests:
  2.
  3. -Elturel's holy knights, the Hellriders, (Named for having braved an expedition into Hell long ago, to slay devils) managed to escape Elturel's destruction.
  4.
  5. -Thavius Krieg made a deal with a devil long ago, and the price was his soul, and those of all the citizens of Elturel...So when the time came to collect, the entire city and everyone within it was dragged into Avernus. We captured him and sent him to be milked for information by the thieve's guild. He has a fiendish shadow.
  6.
  7. -The specific's of Thavius's deal are thus:
  8. "Be it known to all that I, Thavius Krieg, High Overseer of Elturel, have sworn to my master, Zariel, Lord of Avernus, to keep the agreements contained in this oath.
  9. I hereby submit to Zariel in all matters and for all time. I will place Her above all creatures, living and dead. I will obey Her all my days and beyond with fear and servility.
  10. I recognize the dispensation of the device called the Solar Insidiator, herafter called The Companion. In my capacity as High Overseer of Elturel and it's vassal territories, I acknowledge that all lands falling under the light of the Companion are forfeit to Zariel. All persons bound by oath to defend Elturel are also considered forfeit. I further recognize that this dispensation will last fifty years, after which the Companion will return whence it came, taking Elturel and it's oath-bound defenders with it, if that is Zariel's wish.
  11. All this is my everlasting pledge."
  12.
  13. -Thavius Krieg, the high overseer of Elturel, serves the same patron as the Vanthampur family.
  14.
  15. -We obtained the cube containing Thavius' contract with Zariel from Thurstwell Vanthampur('s corpse).
  16.
  17. -Abazon has passing knowledge of Zariel, who rules Avernus, the 1st layer of Hell. She was who Thavius dealt a contract with, and who likely now wants Baldur's Gate, but beyond this Abazon does not know much of her.
  18.
  19. -Met Falaster Fisk, a total bro who lives in Little Calimshan just outside of Baldur's Gate, and works for Sylvira Savikas, a tiefling sage residing in Candlekeep. Sylvira studies fiends to better protect the inhabitants of Faerun from them.
  20.
  21. -Met Sylvira, specialist in the planes and infernal contracts. She is enthusiastic about her motivations, and sympathetic, but somewhat erratic.
  22.
  23. -Abazon knows that contained within Heir's shield is Gargauth. His very presence corrupts mortals, and we are taking it to Avernus, since it would do a lot less harm there than in the material plane. It is likely that only another, equally powerful being could ever destroy Gargauth. Damaging the shield would likely only serve to free him, if anything.
  24.
  25. -Abazon knows about Soul Coins. These are minor artifacts which are infused with the soul of a single creature. The soul was tormented and filled with despair. As a result, any creature of a non-evil alignment was only able to carry a few coins at a time. A creature of an evil alignment was able to carry as many coins as they wished. A creature in possession of a soul coin could use its innate powers. The coin could be used to drain the life of a target creature. Another ability was that the soul inside the coin could be communicated with telepathically. It would answer questions but often gave vague answers, though is forced to answer truthfully.
  26. It was possible to release the soul within a soul coin. This could be achieved by casting an anti-curse spell, such as remove curse, on the coin. Once a soul was freed, the coin began rusting and was eventually destroyed. If the soul was of a good alignment, they were transported to the realm of their deity. If the soul was of an evil alignment, they were transported to the Styx and transformed into a lemure. Abazon knows that Soul Coins can be and are used as fuel for warmachines, and is what inspired him to try and assemble an artificial body for himself.
  27.
  28. -Abazon is now aware that the Thieve's Guild do in fact have agents who sometimes go to Avernus to seek out soul coins. When Omen asks about why the guild would want soul coins, Bradley leaves the implication that the guild can reverse the effect, hence why most of their members are tieflings (they were once doomed by infernal contract and bound inside a coin).
  29.
  30. Abazon's passing interests:
  31.
  32. -Cultists of the dead three have an interest in Baldur's Gate.
  33.
  34. -Met a ghost in a bar, an elven woman in fine garments, with a nasty looking cut from one armpit to the opposite shoulder.
  35.
  36. -Abazon recieved word from the ghost that followers of The dead three gods, Myrkul Bhaal and Bane, have discussed meeting at the bathhouse. The place is owned by Duke Thalamra Vanthampur, but that her son, Mortlock is the one who runs it for her.
  37.
  38. -The group eventually stumble upon a young female tiefling named Charcoal. Charcoal is a necromancer. The party returns her red spellbook to her and she thanks them for what they've done before leaving-but not before a quick word from Abazon about being more aware of the magic she's studying...
  39.
  40. -We've met Mortlock Vanthampur, who is baby. He believes his brother Amrik has plotted with the cultists to assassinate him, and that he is absolutely terrified of his mother; Duchess Thalamra Vanthampur. His mother told him to stay here and help the cultists with her plans, those being to pay the cultists to murder people and terrorize the city of Baldur's Gate, so that people would lose faith in the flaming fists.
  41.
  42. -Thalamra convinced Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard to visit Elturel to speak with Elturel's High Overseer-Thavius Krieg knowing full well that the city was about to be taken.
  43.
  44. -The thieve's guild is likely "abducting" refugee families to protect them.
  45.
  46. -We have met Lulu the hollyphant, and are taking them to Avernus with us. Lulu has told us that a long time ago, Zariel was her best friend, and that they went to Avernus to fight fiends! But that some of the hellriders betrayed them, escaped and shut the portal behind them. Zariel and her generals fought on to give Lulu a chance to escape with Zariel's holy sword. Telling Lulu to hide it so that evil hands would never touch it. Lulu seems to have lost her memory of the rest of the events, but she knows that someone helped her hide the sword...
  47.
  48. Abazon's other knowledge:
  49.
  50. -Met boat man Zardoz. That's literally how much he cares beyond his ability to keep Mortlock safe. On that note we put Mortlock Vanthampur on his boat, the Hellraiser, to keep Mortlock safe.
  51.
  52. -Man rescued from bathhouse explains that his name is Klim Jahsso, a member of a noble family in the city.
  53.
  54. -Thalamra has received infernal help from a powerful devil in Avernus (the first of the 9 hells) in the form of treasure stolen from Tiamat's Hoard. Followers of Tiamat know the location of their master's hoard and will follow it.
  55.
  56. -Spooky human female bard probably deserves a punch.
  57.
  58. -Chancie is a member of a thieve's guild, who we are now in positive relations with. Not the leader, though, he hates us probably.
  59.
  60. -Met Tit-for-Tat, a blindfolded tiefling member of the thieve's guild.
  61.
  62. -Abazon has made pit fights legal in Baldur's gate, as far as he is aware.
  63.
  64. -Rescued Lady Satiir Thione-Hhune, part of an influential patriar family in the city.
  65.
  66. -Abazon knows of the pit fiend Treshbeluk, who has white skin, black eyes, dragonfly wings, and one unicorn horn on her forehead. She is supposedly unmatched in air speed. Was once a Sylph called Tialadyll, and was evil to her own kin. Was banished from the Feywild by the archfey "Moon-Crier". Stuck in the Material plane, she met a wizard called ‘Trenton FireFingers’ who tried to steal her magic. She killed him and disguised herself as him for many years. She died impersonating Trenton, but was promoted in death to pit fiend by Trenton's cult's patron, and now dwells in Phlegethos, the 6th layer of Hell. She has an interest in Baldur's Gate.
  67.
  68. -Abazon knows of the pit fiend Shenorn, who has extra fingers, one normal pair of wings, and one faulty pair of wings that drag on the ground. No fixed home known, has agents in every layer of Hell and many other planes. Has an interest in Baldur's Gate. Omen's seen a doorway owned by Shenorn. Omen has likely encountered gates established by Shenorn for their own purposes.
  69.
  70. -Abazon has vague recollection of a fiend with a name like Gorloth or Gordonon, who has a pig-like face. They have an interest in Baldur's Gate. Probably is Gargoth, who exposed and later destroyed Astaroth's ploy for power. Is now Asmodeus's head of treasury after taking on the alias of Astaroth and achieving the status of demi-god.
  71.
  72. -Met Commander Liara Portyr, niece of Duke Dillard, Dugnugget's superior.
  73.
  74. -Abazon knows about Astaroth. He was a demon lord from the Wells of Darkness in the Abyss, who infiltrated the 9 hells, and became Asmodeus' head of Treasury. He had many cults that worshipped him on Toril, and thus he became something of a god himself. He was powerful enough that it was possible he may have overthrown Asmodeus if not for a pig-faced archfiend named Gargoth who exposed and later destroyed him. Gargoth set Astaroth's home layer in the abyss in permanent hellfire-making it impossible for Astaroth to fully regenerate as his body would be consumed as soon as it reformed.
  75.
  76. -Abazon guesses that the cult Trenton, who Treshbeluk impersonated, belonged to was that of Astaroth, given the notes scrawled on the book. Additionally, given he also knows Gargoth is currently acting under Astaroth's name, he feels it may actually have been Gargoth who promoted Treshbeluk to pit fiend. Maybe a camaraderie in imitating people to steal their positions?
  77.
  78. -I am familiar with the evil being Shia Labouf, who lurks the feywilds.
  79.
  80. -I have been told of a drow wizard named Sen'Ael that Sylvira knew 13 years ago who was chiefly invested in learning about Shenorn. Eventually Sen'Ael hired some mercenaries to help him break into a restricted vault, he never found what he was looking for it seems-for nothing was taken. He's been banned from entering back into Candlekeep.
  81.
  82. -Abazon has met the eccentric (aren't all wizards tho) archwizard, Traxigore, who owes Sylvira favors and can planeshift us to Avernus. He was a man who, long ago, was polymorphed into an Otter but he actually liked this form so much, that he cast the wish spell on himself to maintain the form permanently.
