  1.
  2. You are alanim, a platypus that lives happily with his platypus girlfriend. You're currently residing in a teamspeak server with Hildebert, Ironjade, and Neogeo, but they're doing fucking nothing. Your good friend Tsukigato doesn't want to play DDO with you at the moment due to the fact that he actually hates you. This is your life. The only thing you can do now is get out of this shitty game and live your life.
  3.
  4. Time passes...
  5.
  6. >
  7.
  8. Year 25
  9.
  10. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." You say as you step back from the group. "But I don't have time for this right now."
  11.
  12. The rest of the group looks disappointed by your answer.
  13.
  14. >
  15.
  16. They all know what you meant though; it's just that they were too busy playing their own games to pay attention.
  17.
  18. "Well we still need to talk about something important!" Hildebert says. "What was that?"
  19.
  20. >
  21.
  22. "Nothing important, I just wanted to go home." You reply. "I'll see you guys later."
  23.
  24. You leave the group and head towards your house. As soon as you walk into your front door, you realize that this isn't going to be an easy task.
  25.
  26. >
  27.
  28. You quickly run upstairs and lock yourself inside your room. You then begin to think about how you could possibly make things better between you and everyone else.
  29.
  30. This is your problem afterall.
  31.
  32. >
  33.
  34. After a few hours of thinking about it, you come up with a plan. You'll tell them everything that happened yesterday and why you feel like this is the best way to handle it.
  35.
  36. >
  37.
  38. You take a deep breath and start telling them the whole story. It sounds crazy, but you assure them that it's true. They seem surprised by your explanation, but they accept it after hearing your side of the story.
  39.
  40. >
  41.
  42. You explain that you've been having some problems with your family lately. You explained that you went to visit them last week, but they wouldn't even speak to you when you came back.
  43.
  44. >
  45.
  46. Hildebert seems very interested in your story, but Ironjade is more concerned with what you said about your parents. He asks if you had any siblings or cousins. You explain that you did not, so she goes on to ask who they were and where they lived.
  47.
  48. >
  49.
  50. Ironjade seems to understand your situation much better than Hildebert does. She knows that there are other people out there that have similar problems as her.
  51.
  52. >
  53.
  54. She tells you that she has a sister named Julie who lives in another town called Nuro.
  55.
  56. Julie is one of those people that you've always wondered about since she doesn't really show herself to anyone except for your father.
  57.
  58. >
  59.
  60. Her father was a farmer and his wife died giving birth to their only child. The woman didn't want to raise another child alone, so she asked Julie to help raise him while she traveled around the world.
  61.
  62. >
  63.
  64. When Julie returned from her travels, she found that her mother had remarried and moved to a new town. Her father couldn't stand the idea of his daughter being away from him all the time, so he killed himself in order to prevent Julie from ever leaving again.
  65.
  66. >
  67.
  68. The couple never spoke again. Julie now lives alone and spends most of her time playing games on her computer. She says that she'd rather just be left alone than deal with other people. Ironjade tries to console you, but you know it won't work.
  69.
  70. >
  71.
  72. You can't go back home. Your family will hate you and your brother might abandon you if he finds out what happened. You don't have anything here anymore, so why should you stay? You're going to leave this place soon anyway; why bother staying?
  73.
  74. >
  75.
  76. You tell Ironjade that you'll take her to Julie's house. She seems happy at first, but then she starts crying. You try to comfort her, but she still cries until you give up trying.
  77.
  78. >
  79.
  80. You get off the bus and walk down the street. It isn't long before you find Julie's house. When you arrive, she greets you warmly.
  81.
  82. "Hello! I'm glad to see you!" She says waving at you.
  83.
  84. >
  85.
  86. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to come earlier." You say. "My father told me not to disturb you when he came home last night."
  87.
  88. Julie smiles and hugs you tightly.
  89.
  90. >
  91.
  92. "It's okay, I understand. I'm glad you could make it." She says. "Do you like my house?"
  93.
  94. You nod enthusiastically and start walking towards her house. Julie continues to hug you as you walk along the path leading into her backyard.
  95.
  96. >
  97.
  98. "Where are we going?" You ask.
  99.
  100. "Oh just to the park across the street." Julie replies. "Come on let's go."
  101.
  102.
  103. You follow Julie through the park and eventually you reach a small playground where several children are playing.
  104.
  105. >
  106.
  107. A few older men sit nearby watching them play. One of them speaks to you in an overly friendly tone.
  108.
  109. "Hey there, how's school been so far?" He asks.
  110. "It's fine sir, I've even made some friends." You reply. "What about you?"
  111.
  112. >
  113.
  114. "Me? Oh nothing much really, I was just having fun playing tag with some of the kids today." The man replies.
  115. "Well I'm sure they'll want to talk to you later sir." The man says turning his attention back to the children playing.
  116.
  117. >
  118.
  119. "Yeah, yeah... See ya around kid." The man turns away and walks off.
  120.
  121. The children continue to play happily without you. Julie looks over at you and smiles.
  122.
  123. "See you later kid." She says with a smile.
  124.
  125. >
  126.
  127. You wave goodbye to Julie and head back inside your house. As soon as you enter, you hear a loud noise from upstairs. Looking out the window, you see a large explosion taking place in the front yard. Pieces of wood and debris fly everywhere.
  128.
  129. >
  130.
  131. A plume of smoke rises up from the area.
  132.
  133. As you approach the window, you notice that one of the trees has been blown completely off its roots and is now lying on its side in the middle of the road. In fact all of your lawn has been destroyed.
  134.
  135. >
  136.
  137. You then hear a voice shout something at another person who appears to be standing by the tree stump.
  138.
  139. "Shit! Shit!" A male voice shouts. "We need to get the fuck outta here right fucking now!"
  140.
  141.
  142. "Whoa, hold on."
  143.
  144. >
  145.
  146. Another voice says. "Let me calm this guy down."
  147.
  148. "I don't think so..." The first voice replies. "But if we stay here any longer, we're gonna get hit too."
  149.
  150. >
  151.
  152. "Alright, alright, calm down. We gotta get the hell outta here."
  153.
  154. "Fuck that, we gots to move."
  155.
  156.
  157.
  158. You look at each other for a moment before speaking again. "Okay what should we do?
  159.
  160. >
  161.
  162. There aren't many options here."
  163.
  164. "There are two ways to go. One way would be to run into town and try to find shelter or help. The other way would be to try and drive off the truckers."
  165.
  166. "Which one do you suggest?
  167.
  168. >
  169.
  170. Which way?"
  171.
  172. "Either way, it's going to be bad.
  173.
  174. >
  175.
  176. We could end up getting killed by those guys or worse, we could get shot by the cops. I'm thinking we'd probably better just take the easy route and try to escape through our backyard."
  177.
  178. "What about the cops?" You ask.
  179.
  180. "
  181.
  182. >
  183.
  184. They can handle themselves. Besides, they won't shoot us."
  185.
  186. "Well...what about the truckers?"
  187.
  188. The man looks at you and shakes his head. "I dunno, but I wouldn't want to risk it."
  189.
  190.
  191. "
  192.
  193. >
  194.
  195. So which way should we go?"
  196.
  197. "Ugh, either way is fine as long as we get out of here.
  198.
  199. >
  200.
  201. Let's go with the second option."
  202.
  203.
  204.
  205. The man nods and begins walking towards your house. As he walks past you, he turns around and addresses you once more. "If you come with me, I'll give you some money for whatever shelter or help you might need.
  206.
  207. >
  208.
  209. If not, well then you can keep walking.
  210.
  211. >
  212.
  213. As soon as he reaches your door, he opens it and begins walking inside. He closes the door behind him and locks it. Then he takes a deep breath and enters your house without another word.
  214.
  215. >
  216.
  217. You sit down on your couch and wait patiently for him to return. Eventually, he comes back outside. He has changed into a pair of old jeans and a t-shirt that says 'ROCK N ROLL' in big black letters across the front.
  218.
  219. >
  220.
  221. His hair is now combed neatly back from his forehead. He wears no shoes, so he walks barefoot all over the floor.
  222.
  223.
  224. "Alright, I've got something for you,"
  225.
  226. >
  227.
  228. He says. "It's a small bag filled with some food stuffs and medicine. It should be enough to last you until someone finds us."
  229.
  230. >
  231.
  232. "What do you mean?"
  233. "We're just going to walk off somewhere. We don't know where exactly yet, but we'll find a place to stay eventually."
  234. "Where are we headed?" You ask.
  235. "Just wander around for awhile and see what happens."
  236.
  237. >
  238.
  239. "How far will we have to walk?"
  240. "I'd say about ten miles, maybe even less if things aren't too bad out there.
  241.
  242. >
  243.
  244. The farther away from civilization you get, the better."
  245. "Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean we could end up getting lost or attacked by other people. What if they kill us?"
  246. "Don't worry about that.
  247.
  248. >
  249.
  250. They won't attack you. Just go with me."
  251. "But...what if we get lost?"
  252. "Then we'll just have to start walking again. In fact, I think we should probably take these bags with us when we leave anyway. We might need them later."
  253. "
  254.
  255. >
  256.
  257. Okay..."
  258. "So, are you ready to go?"
  259. "Yeah."
  260. "Good. Let's head out then!"
  261. "Wait! Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean we could end up getting lost or attacked by other people. What if they kill us?
  262.
  263. >
  264.
  265. "
  266. "Don't worry about that. We can always run back home."
  267. "Okay...
  268.
  269. >
  270.
  271. Okay...
  272.
  273. >
  274.
  275. Okay... Alright, let's go then!
  276.
  277. >
  278.
  279. You and your sister begin to pack as much of your stuff into the bags as possible. It doesn't really matter though since you're not carrying anything valuable on you right now. The two of you are walking along in silence until it starts to get dark out.
  280.
  281. >
  282.
  283. You both look at each other and smile.
  284.
  285. "Let's see how well we know our way around," you say.
  286.
  287. Your sister looks over her shoulder for a moment before nodding in agreement.
  288.
  289. >
  290.
  291. She begins to walk faster and soon you find yourself following behind her. You don't even notice that she has started running ahead of you until it's too late. Your feet slip on some ice and you fall flat on your face onto the ground.
  292.
  293. >
  294.
  295. The pain is excruciating and you scream out in agony. Your sister stands there looking down at you with an expression of horror on her face. She slowly walks forward towards where you fell from and kneels down next to you.
  296.
  297. >
  298.
  299. "Oh my god, what happened?!" she asks. "Are you hurt bad?"
  300.
  301. You shake your head no and try to sit up but you still feel like death itself is trying to take control of your body.
  302.
  303. >
  304.
  305. "Please, just tell me what happened!" she says.
  306.
  307. You continue to shake your head no and shake your head no again. You start to cry and sob uncontrollably. This goes on for quite awhile until you finally stop crying altogether.
  308.
  309. >
  310.
  311. "I'm sorry Suzy, I didn't mean to scare you."
  312.
  313. Your sister takes a deep breath and tries to compose herself. Her eyes widen when she sees that you aren't dead yet.
  314.
  315. >
  316.
  317. "What?! How did you do that? Did something happen while I was gone?"
  318.
  319. You shake your head no and sigh.
  320.
  321. >
  322.
  323. "Well then I guess we'll have to go back home."
  324.
  325. You nod in agreement and she smiles. You can't help but laugh at her reaction. She seems so happy about this idea! You haven't seen her like this since...well ever.
  326.
  327. >
  328.
  329. "We should probably get going though, we're not getting far if people are watching us right now."
  330.
  331. You nod in agreement and begin walking away from the house. As you walk past the front door, you hear a voice call out to you.
  332.
  333. >
  334.
  335. It sounds very familiar.
  336.
  337. "Hey Suzy, whatcha doing here?"
  338.
  339. You turn around and see a man dressed in black clothing standing nearby. He wears glasses and his hair is cut short. You recognize him as Johnny.
  340.
  341. >
  342.
  343. You don't know why he's calling you over, but it doesn't matter.
  344.
  345. "Where have you been?" Johnny asks. "Why'd you come all the way out here anyway?"
  346.
  347. You look at your watch and realize that it's already dark outside.
  348.
  349. >
  350.
  351. "Sorry, I gotta go," you say. "I've got some things to take care of."
  352.
  353. Johnny looks disappointed by your answer. He walks off with a small wave before you can even finish saying goodbye.
  354.
  355. >
  356.
  357. You sit down on the side of the road and wait for Johnny to return. It feels like forever, but eventually he returns. He carries a backpack with him and opens it up to reveal several large bags inside.
  358.
  359. >
  360.
  361. He tosses one bag over your shoulder and begins walking towards the car. The other one he puts into the trunk of his car. Johnny pulls out of the driveway and drives off leaving you alone in the darkness.
  362.
  363. >
  364.
  365. You stand there for awhile, looking at the moonlight shining through the trees. You feel lonely without Johnny around anymore. You wonder where he could be and how he's doing.
  366.
  367. Suddenly you hear a loud noise coming from behind you.
  368.
  369. >
  370.
  371. You quickly turn around and see a truck barreling straight towards you.
  372.
  373. You jump backwards just in time for the truck to slam into your body. Your head slams against the pavement hard enough to cause you to lose consciousness.
  374.
  375. >
  376.
  377. When you wake up again, you find yourself strapped to a gurney in an emergency room.
  378.
  379. The next few days pass in a blur. You spend most of them being examined by doctors who seem more concerned about finding something wrong with you than anything else.
  380.
  381. >
  382.
  383. Eventually they decide that you're fine and release you.
  384.
  385. You get home and immediately start panicking. You haven't eaten or drank anything since you woke up in the ER so when someone brings food to your door, you aren't too happy about it.
  386.
  387. >
  388.
  389. It takes you a while to calm down, but eventually you do. You start eating and drinking normally again.
  390.
  391. A couple weeks pass and you still haven't heard anything from Johnny. Eventually though, he does call back. He sounds pretty upset about what happened to him last night.
  392.
  393. >
  394.
  395. "Hey Suzy, it's me Johnny! What are you doing here? I thought you were at school!"
  396.
  397. You explain everything that happened to you and he seems relieved that it wasn't worse.
  398.
  399. >
  400.
  401. "Yeah, well I'm glad to hear you're okay. Well if you ever need help with anything, just let me know and we can figure something out."
  402.
  403. You hang up and sigh. This is really starting to suck. You don't want this life...
  404.
  405. >
  406.
  407. But then again maybe you never did.
  408.
  409. >
  410.
  411. Maybe you've always been different somehow. Maybe it was all in your mind.
  412.
  413. Maybe it was all in your head.
  414.
  415. >
  416.
  417. Maybe it was all in your head.
  418.
  419. >
  420.
  421. Then again maybe it wasn't. Maybe you had a normal childhood like everyone else. Maybe you weren't abused as much as people think. Maybe you didn't have any problems growing up.
  422.
  423. >
  424.
  425. Maybe you just had bad luck. Or maybe it was all in your head.
  426.
  427. Or maybe it was all in your head.
  428.
  429. >
  430.
  431. Whatever the reason, you probably would have ended up like your dad or like your mom. It doesn't matter now, because you're going to live a happy life without either of them around anymore.
  432.
