  1. Name: Laurence “of Arabia” Addicks
  2. Rank: OF-2(Captain)
  3. HVAU: U-4, “Cry Havoc”
  4. Background: Coming from a long line of Marines, Laurence knew since he was a kid that he was going to follow in their footsteps. Though he was planning to enlist as his forefathers had, his parents recognized his potential for more and encouraged him to work to get into the United States Naval Academy. He succeeded in making it into Annapolis, where he excelled in his studies. He was in active participant in his extracurriculars, a star member of the boxing team and theatrical company, and graduated near the top of his class. Afterwards, he was shipped to The Basic School and soon after that shipped to be trained for his MOS, Tank Officer. After his training was complete, Laurence was assigned to the 4th Tank Battalion, at the time deployed in Afghanistan. It was there that he first experienced actual combat, and came to understand the realities of war. The mountains of the Afghan-Pakistani border would also be where he was set on the path to his involvement in the HVAU program, showing decisive leadership in providing fire support for a unit caught off guard by a surprisingly large Taliban offensive. The limitations of modern armor in the mountains and highlands of Afghanistan, and later Somalia, led him to be one of several officers to support the fledgling research into HVAUs after his promotion to First Lieutenant in Afghanistan and attracted further funding for the program after his promotion to Captain during Operation: Celestial Force in Somalia, where he oversaw the testing of the first HVAU prototypes. After the conflicts in Afghanistan and Somalia ended, he was able to devote more time to the program, along with the other officers who got the program off the ground convincing their superiors in the American and Japanese militaries to allow the creation of the First Jacked and helping to pick its pilots. Though not originally the unit’s commanding officer, Laurence was chosen after the first and second in line were promoted and killed in an automobile accident, respectively. Though by no means sure of how the unit would fare in combat, Laurence has faith in himself and his men, and jumped at the chance for them to prove the mettle of their machines, and take down a few NorKors while they’re at it.
