The (former) Confederate States of Arwas.

In fact, there is no longer such a thing as the Confederate States of Arwas.

The continent of Arwas struggled for a very long time with the collapse of multiple Nests, and the spread of Affliction Particles. Luckily, certain cleaner areas were found and around them, fortress-cities were founded in these territories, their rulers became nobles...politicians, and whatever else was convenient as a name at the time.

Even in this situation, there was clear separation. The Inner States as they were called, were in much cleaner areas, allowed to actually develop their territory into full  blown cities, cultivate crops and generally grow, economically. However the center of these inner states remained an armed fortress in the midst.

Problems arose when a force from the north breached their territories, and all of the States came together to form the Confederacy. However, when the attack was repelled, problems started, and the conflict between the Inner and Outer States slowly grew. Furthermore, conflict between the states of each group was not unheard of, and grew as well with time.

It so happened, that the northern attackers returned, this time not with a scouting force, but diplomacy. Over the following week, a number of events, constituting the so called Confederacy Upheaval occurred:

1. The prime minister of Orun, one of the four Inner States married the ruler of the foreign force, the Empress of the Lhar Empire.
2. The elite forces of the Lhar were granted passage into Confederate territories, which they used to invade Elos, another Inner State.
3. The Inner State of Verna reacted immediately, but could not do much. They were deemed too dangerous to the alliance between the empire and Orun and were razed to the ground, with very few survivors.
4. The last Inner State of Milleas managed to put up a defense in the following days. Outer States did not come to their aid soon enough, or at all, and they eventually succumbed, but a number of their forces and leadership escaped.
5. The Outer States reacted to the invasion of course in the following days, but they were too late, as the Imperial forces had already reached Orun and Elos, and were stationed there.

The Confederacy Upheaval caused a tremendous shift in the politics of Arwas as a whole. The Lhar Empire controlled virtually everything of worth in the entire continent.

However things were not as easy even for the vast empire. The League of Arwas rose to oppose them, founded of the former army of Milleas and the warriors of the Outer States. However they were never allowed to rest for too long, as imperial forces pushed the League constantly.

Eventually they settled in a distant, cleansed territory, suffering great losses
