[Mining the Mind]
A spirit-world delve featuring Zeke and Katrin!!!

Katrin is in it for the Soulsteel, Zeke is in it for a BOOK OF MEMORIES... in either case! Zeke's searching for a way into the spirit realm has led him out to a cabin in the middle of who-knows-where, speaking to a shaman of the forests. he explains to zeke that there is a portal to the spirit realm here, but that the man he is right now would die taking the method. He explains that the forest would only accept someone at peace with themselves, like Katrin. Who - despite perhaps being objectively more notgood - is confidently heading forward in spite of it all. She isn't perfect, but she can kind of recognize that. The Shaman tells Zeke that he must go the forest and drink with the deer, and they will show him the way. He is EXPLICITLY TOLD at this stage that DEPENDING ON WHAT HE DOES, the way could be closed FOREVER for him.

Deep in the forest they discover a river from which many deer are drinking from. The water looks unappealing and fetid, and the deer skinny. All along the riverbed and upstream they can see mushrooms that poison the waters. Following it upstream, they meet with the Mushroom King. He tells them, politely, that the mushrooms JUST GROW and the Deer JUST DRINK. They do not decide where they are born to do these things. If they so happen to be together, they gotta tolerate it rather than bemoan it. After all-

A deer will promptly walk into frame and eats the mushroom king.

The party must try and interpret the lesson being made here, and, if they successfully listen to the Shamans advice and drink with the deer, they are knocked out by the mushrooms poison and awaken in the spirit realm!!!
