  9. >Vaggie smiled
  10. >Then frowned
  11. >She tilted her head to another angle and tried a slightly different smile, less toothy
  12. >Examining herself in the mirror, she couldn't quite figure out what the big deal was
  13. >Why did Charlie's winning smile and sunny (not to mention increasingly affectionate as of late) disposition seem to be all it took to reduce even the most wicked of souls to a quaking wreck?
  14. >She ran a velvet gloved hand through her hair and smiled again, trying to emulate that certain something that gave her lover's grin its characteristic warmth.
  15. >She spread her arms out, open for a hug
  16. >She knew she had a bit of a temper, and could be a bite spiteful at times
  17. >But right now, the moth demon smiling back at from within the mirror seemed to her to be the very picture of gentle, harmless love
  18. >What about this could inspire such terror?
  19. -
  20. >"Admiring yaself toots? Ain't vanity supposed to be a sin too?"
  21. >Vaggie turned to face Angel Dust, leaning against the frame of her open door.
  22. >"I was just..."
  23. >A thought suddenly came to mind
  24. >She flashed Angel the smile she'd just been practicing
  25. >The sassy smirk he usually wore faltered, his eyes widening slightly
  26. >"It's funny, I was actually just thinking about you."
  27. >She strolled across the carpet, still beaming
  28. >Angel began to look increasingly nervous
  29. >"I know I can be a little short with you."
  30. >"'Can be'? You're short all the time!"
  31. >Angel laughed, forced and clearly fake
  32. >Vaggie followed suit, wholly genuine. She was within arm's reach now.
  33. >"Well, I just wanted to apologize. I know you're trying, and it can't be easy."
  34. >Angel's eyes began darting around in fearful confusion.
  35. >"Eh, I-I"
  36. >Vaggie smiled wider, baring just a bit of fang.
  37. >"Forgive me?"
  38. -
  39. >Angel had barely stuttered out an answer in the affirmative before the petite moth demon seized him
  40. >She pulled him into a tight hug, face buried in his fluff
  41. >He was genuinely pleasant to hold, even as she could feel him trembling
  42. >As the hug lingered on, she began to stroke his back and nuzzle her cheek against him
  43. >She felt, not just heard, him whimper
  44. >The spider demon was twice her size
  45. >Decades older
  46. >Known to revel in violence, often under the hold of one intoxicant or several
  47.
  48. >He was nothing more than a little lamb, cornered by the wolf
  49.
  50. >Vaggie loosened her grip, but just as Angel began to think the worst was over she decided to deliver one final cut
  51. >She slid one of her hands down to his and entwined their fingers
  52. >With the other she gently, ever so gently, pulled him down to rest his forehead against hers
  53. >No force was necessary, his strength had quite left him
  54. >"You know..."
  55. >She poured another layer of honey into her voice
  56. >"...you're a great hugger"
  57. >With that, Vaggie finally released the traumatized demon
  58. >Angel slumped against the wall, knees shaking. She left him where he was and strolled off down the hall, a dainty bounce in her step.
  59. >She could get used to this
