"T-there's one last m-m-matter," Elizan said to Paloma as the student council began to file out of their meeting room.

"Oh?" Paloma turned to her, smiling. "What, what is it?"

"W-we've had s-s-some new transfers l-lately, and m-most of them  have adjusted fine, b-but..."

"Cucali Pasine?" Paloma sighed, rubbing at her temples. "Yeah, I've heard about her. She's really troubled, isn't she?"

"T-the teachers asked me i-i-if one of us could approach h-her, s-since it might help if she has p-p-peers to l-look up to. A-and you're always s-s-so good with others, s-so..."

"Say no more." Paloma smiled to her. "I'll get through to her, don't you worry!"

"T-thanks, Paloma."


And that's how Paloma ended up approaching Cucali in the halls during lunch.

"Outta my way!", the punk snapped, glaring at her through her one eye.

"I, I'd like to speak to you, Cucali."

"Well wouldja look at that! We're speakin'! And now we're gonna break it off all nice and easy like!" Cucali tried to brush past Paloma, but the girl reached out to place a hand on her shoulder. Cucali shrugged it off, glaring at her. "Don't touch me."

"My name's Paloma, from the student council. We're worried about you, Cucali."

"You know where you can stick that worry? Right up your ass!"

Paloma frowned but kept speaking. "Your behavior really isn't acceptable."

"Do I give a single fuck about that? 'Cause would you look at that, I can't find one little fuck to give."

"Cucali--"

"Just fuck off, girlie."

Cucali stormed off into the crowd, leaving Paloma alone.
