  1. Played three side events, didn't take particularly great notes so I don't have sb ins-outs recorded but here's what I have. I played my latest list from #decklists.
  2.
  3. Friday evening side event: 2-1, Karn Count 1, Narset Count 1
  4. 2-0 MonoR Painter (Karn)
  5. Not much to say here. Maindeck CS was excellent in game 1, didn't end up pulling the trigger on Null Rod over 2nd Grudge, but it probably would have been great here.
  6. 2-1 MonoB Two Card Monte ft. Dark Depths and IGG-Tendrils
  7. I know this guy from ELD's, he's nice so we chat for a bit. Games weren't much overall, he had t0 Leyline in game 1 which I lost with a grip full of Geese and Goyfs, games 2 and three he didn't open with it , and I Pierced/CS'd/Wastelanded the combo pieces
  8. 1-2 UW Stoneblade (Narset)
  9. These were some real grinders. I remember getting totally locked out by a Narset that slipped through after fighting over a B2B in game 1. I was on the play for g2 (lost the die roll) and was able to just zoo him out with a protected Delver and Goyf. Game 3 I mulled to 5 and put up a good fight, but slowly got choked out, couldn't find a Worb or Library to save my life.
  10.
  11. Saturday early side event: 3-0 Karn Count 3, Narset Count 2
  12. 2-1 Moon Stompy (Karn)
  13. Really glad I had Goyfs and the two Grudges here. Game 1 he mulligans to 5, I Daze a Chalice and Force a Moon. A few Goyf beats and a bolt later we're sideboarding. He keeps a 7 otp that had among the cards a sol land, SSG, mountain, chalice, moon, rabbler. I have a Daze, a Grudge, a Goyf, couple lands, and Force+Blue. I let a t1 Chalice resolve, Force a Moon, and when I try to Daze the Rabblemaster he pays with SSG. I do the math and the lone Goyf can't race the Rabblemaster, so I just need to shatter Chalice and find a Bolt before he finds another threat. He gets a Chandra to stick before I do, game spirals. Game3 goes a lot like g1, he mulls low, double Delver gets there. Of note, he cast Karn in g3, fetched Microsoft Lettuce, cast it, and I didn't have a Grudge I just beat him down for two more turns.
  14. 2-1 UB Tezzerator (Karn)
  15. The guy I played against had a gorgeous deck and was a good dude, but the details of the match are fuzzy. I know I lost to a Bridge and Thopter-Sword combo once and Grudge'd my way through 3 Bridges in the third game. Karn never resolved, CS continued to be good.
  16. 2-0 SnS (Narset)
  17. Opponent was on the straight up SnS build, no wishes like OmniSneak. Game 1 he floundered a bit and I bashed him down with two Mongeese, afterwards he told me his hand was basically all A's and no B's, with a brainstorm that hit Show-Show-Sneak while he had a Show in hand. Game 2, I had a slow start with a lot of countermagic and I Pierced a Sneak and blasted a Narset. Finally found a Goyf to start bashing for big chunks thanks to having pw and enchantment in the yard, which got me over the finish line.
  18.
  19. Saturday afternoon side event: 2-0-1 Karn Count 3, Narset Count 4
  20. 2-1 Miracles (Narset)
  21. This was a grinder and I was definitely getting tired at this point. My notes say I got Mentor'd in game 1, games 2 and 3 I boarded into the hate permanents and I Worb'd him both games. Game 3 he brought in disenchants to take care of the Worb, but I had the second immediately after, and Blasted a snapcaster once he untapped with four mana. Mongeese and TNNs went the distance.
  22. 2-0 Grixis Control (Narset)
  23. This matchup seemed a lot better than I remember it being. I had seen he was on Grixis from an earlier round, so I opted to play out mongeese and Goyfs and keep my Delver to pitch to Force, which paid off as his hand was all Kommand and Bolt, and when he finally found the Push I was able to Force it, having Pierced a Hymn and bolted a Strix along the way. Narset resolved, downticked to find a cantrip, and then immediately got Bolted. Game 2 went fairly similarly, although he did board in Bridges which seems very incorrect to me. I had Grudge boarded in as extra Strix removal, so I had it covered when I set up lethal. He was also on a TON of edict effects, so having mongoose just as a shroud body to insulate against them was very good.
  24. ID Elves
  25. Third round I get paired against my friend Ben on Elves, and we decide to split the tix. We play it out for fun and talk about our plays/sequences like in our usual playtesting sessions. My board was weak to this matchup, so I lost the set overall, but that can be remedied by switching 2nd Surgical to an Electrickery or Forked Bolt I think. And the new Ren & Stimpy planeswalker will maybe help here too!
  26.
  27. Overall things went well, and I really felt good having 3 Pierce and 1 CS maindeck. Sideboard still needs to be more precisely tweaked and mapped out though. Honestly I didn't really have a ton of fun playing, I find I usually go through up and down cycles with my enthusiasm/enjoyment with mtg. So I'm probably gonna give it a month or so off, distract myself with other projects, and then get back to it after GP DC so that things feel fresh.
