- Game Request Requirements for Pokémon Rom Hack / Fan Game Speedruns
- Updated Jan 28, 2021
- 1. The game must either feature Pokémon characters or themes (without being official), or be a ROM hack of an official Pokémon game.
- An example of the former is Pokémon Uranium; an example of the latter is Dragon Ball Z-Team Training.
- 2. The game itself must be completed and a run of the game/category should have some distinct end point (e.g. credits, hall of fame, champion battle).
- This means that alphas and betas, which typically consist of incomplete content, will generally be rejected, unless there is some end point like the examples above.
- 3. The game must be an official release by the primary creator(s) and be publicly available on the internet.
- 4. A run of the proposed category must be completed prior to a leaderboard being created.
- A link to the run, along with all relevant information (see #8 below) must be submitted on Discord (either in the "general" or the "more-hacks/games" channels) or on SRC. Runs submitted on behalf of others will not be accepted.
- 5. Initial runs must be RTA (played in one sitting with a running timer that is not paused).
- We can make exceptions for first runs if the category is very long, on a case by case basis.
- 6. The submitted game should ideally be on the latest version, unless there are significant changes between versions which warrant a separate category.
- This will be considered on a case by case basis, and also in the event an incumbent game in the series is updated.
- 7. At least ONE of the following two criteria must also be met:
- i. There must be at least one other individual who has either run or has interest in running the proposed game/category, OR
- ii. There must be clear evidence of effort in routing of the game/category (mod discretion).
- For example, a run that resembles more of a "fast playthrough" without notes, submitted by one runner with no others interested, is less likely to be accepted.
- 8. Please provide the following when you request a game:
- a. Full name of the game, with correct spelling, capitalization, etc.
- b. Version of the game, along with release date (day, month and year).
- c. Location (URL) where one can access the game (e.g. pokecommunity). This URL should clearly define the game and differentiate it from other games/versions.
- d. A link to your run of the game (youtube, twitch, etc.)
- e. If necessary (see 7-i above), please indicate the other individual(s) who are involved in routing/running the game/category.
