  1. In the novel BIRD BY BIRD by Anne Lamott, Anne discusses how she is able to write by relating personal experiences. In the chapters Index cards, and Writing Groups Lamott discusses how to remember important things, and the best way to get feedback on writing.
  2. In Index Cards, Lamott discusses her bad memory and says that in order to remember things, she writes down her inspired thoughts on an index card. I can understand her forgetfulness as I have bad memory as well. In the modern world however, with the practical application of technology, I am able to record any amount of data I want with the portability of something roughly the same size as an index card. Though my short term memory has caused me to forget some important things, I have found that my cell phone has allowed me to remember some of the best images I have imagined for my writing. Though I was following her advice before I read it, it is still sound advice that I may stand by.
  3. In Writing Groups, Lamott discusses the importance of other writers reading and critiquing your writing. I have found that since I began having my writing evaluated by my peers as well as my teacher, I have learned to become a much better writing. Because of this group of writers, I have also learned just how good I am at writing. With this class, I have began to learn what I have been doing wrong with my writing, and how I may fix it.
  4. Throughout BIRD BY BIRD, Lamott has taught me how to become a better writer. In section three, Index Cards, and Writing Groups have allowed me to confirm as beneficial that which I already do. As I continue to read this novel, I hope I may learn more on how to become a better writer.
