  1. In the script that highlights the locations on the board, before you place down the highlight object:
  2.  
  3. if the selected piece is a pawn
  4. if the location is on the SAME row as the pawn and there IS an enemy chess piece in this location OR
  5. if the location is on a DIFFERENT row as the pawn and there IS NOT an enemy chess piece in this location
  6. Exit the script without doing anything
