How to Make Stimboards

First, decide on the board’s theme. It can be a color, or a type of stim.

To find gifs, I either search "stim x" on Tumblr or look through tags on blogs I like. On blogs, you can type "/search/x+y" in the search bar to look for two or more tags.

Once you have some gifs selected, make a new photo post. There are two ways to add gifs.

* Upload photos
* Add photos from web

Unfortunately gifs on Tumblr now save as .webp, which you can’t reupload, but there’s ways around this.

* On Chrome: right click -> open image in new tab - > turn .gifv to .gif in the url -> right click -> save image as
* On Firefox: right click -> view image -> turn .gifv to .gif in the url -> right click -> save image as

If you want to add photos from web, right click the gif and copy the image address, then paste it.

ezGIF is a great tool. You can resize and crop gifs, and you can even change a gif’s color. If the color of a gif doesn’t quite fit my board, I change its hue, usually by 5 or 10. Color shifting works best if there’s no hands.

You can rearrange the images by clicking and dragging them. My boards typically have two colors, so I sort the gifs like this:

But feel free to experiment until it looks right! Don’t be afraid to use other boards as inspiration.

Make sure all the gifs are square (same width and height), otherwise the gifs in that row will be the wrong shape. Don’t turn the board into a video btw, it will look grainy.

Be sure to keep track of the sources of the gifs! I make a new .txt file and save the urls on it. Linking to the sources is the best way to credit; captions don’t work on mobile or on all blog themes, and if you put credits in the tags the sources will get lost if your blog is deleted.
