I want to preface this (never heard that one before) by saying I hope your new relationship goes well and wish you two nothing but the best. I hope one day, no matter the metaphorical or physical distance between us, you could find it in yourself to think the same towards me.

I've come to see that even though at one point we loved each other tremendously, we were just not meant to be. One of us would have had to change significantly to make the other happy, we had our moments, but it seems we were ultimately misfit for one another romantically.

I don't know what's going through your head, and that's not really my business. But I hope one day we can see each other for what we were. Teenagers in pain and angst seeing only our own struggle and not the others, seeing only our own vision that drove the other to anger, sadness, and confusion even in separation. A tradgedy to us that an old man would find a comedy for it's youthfull blindness.

I can't say I forgive you for what I perceive that you've said and done to me, but I understand it's a product of how you were feeling and what you thought. And that nobody is perfect, so I don't resent you as a person.

I hope one day you can find it in you to see in me the same imperfections and understand that I meant no harm, and for the hurt I caused you I am sorry, no matter if you were to insult me and disparage me I am still sorry to have hurt another I care about and shared a past with.

I'm not saying I hope we become best friends or anything, but I think it's sad that people who share such a past must now be filled with such resentment. So I wanted to get this to you somehow. I don't know if it will make a difference in what you think about what happened, but if I have said anything that you weren't expecting, I'd be glad.

And don't worry about having to be reminded about me over summer. Im as eager for this space as I'm sure you are. Especially if you still feel the same after reading this.

In my opinion, as people who aspire to be great in our own ways, we are too close to adulthood and yet too young to let such an ultimately ugly resolution marr our past.
