  1. Q: What is Gwent?
  2. A: Gwent is a free-to-play collectible card game set in the Witcher universe. It's based on the minigame featured in The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt.
  3.
  4. Q: How similar is stand-alone Gwent to the Witcher 3 minigame?
  5. A: The basic structure is the same. There are still three lanes in which to place units, and the game is still best two rounds out of three. Beyond that, almost everything has changed. For instance, essentially every unit now has an ability.
  6.
  7. Q: Is Gwent pay-to-win?
  8. A: Not really. In fact, Gwent is one of the most generous free-to-play card games available. Playing matches (especially in ranked mode) will earn you plenty of the materials needed to buy card kegs and craft cards.
  9.
  10. Q: Are any of the bundles worth buying?
  11. A: Spending money in Gwent isn't really necessary. Only the $5 starter pack is arguably worth the money.
  12.
  13. Q: Which card should I pick from this keg?
  14. A: For silver and gold drops, feel free to post a screenshot of your options in this thread, and we'll help you out. In general, neutral cards are more valuable to you as a new player since they can be used in any deck. When in doubt, choose the premium (animated) card if you have the option.
  15.
  16. Q: What are some safe crafts for a new player?
  17. A: Each faction has three "core" silver cards: weather-clear mages, card-advantage spies, and locks. These cards are quite versatile and can be played in just about any deck. In addition, it's worth it to craft a few strong neutral gold cards to use until you're able to acquire the more powerful faction-specific golds. Some examples include Dandelion: Poet, Muzzle, Ciri: Nova, and Geralt: Igni.
