Narrator: This is Thomas. Thomas is a circle and he is off to work. He has a big project due and if he doesn’t finish it today his boss will probably fire him. Thomas works in an office with lots of other circles. Thomas’s boss Jim is a strict man who does not like him. You see, Thomas was once in the same school as Jim and he did not like him even then.

Thomas always got the best grades in the class while Jim always came in second. Jim only got the job that he has because his Dad owns the parent company. Jim has had the job lined up for him since before he was born. Thomas doesn’t think it’s fair but he is fine with his job Thomas makes a solid $80,000 a year. Sure, it’s not the seven digits Jim makes but Thomas has a nice life. He has a 2 story house and lives in a nice neighbourhood. He lives within walking distance of his job with is good since he still doesn’t own a car, even though his friends keep telling him to get one because he is never the driver when they go out. But he insists it’s not worth the money because most of the time he walks where he needs to go.

We’re getting off track here. Back to Jim and the project. Thomas hasn’t finished it yet because his laptop stopped working and all his files were on the laptop. Jim isn’t happy to hear that but he gives Thomas to the end of the day to finish it. So, Thomas gets to work. He has to write most of it again since he did most of it over the weekend. But it’s not like he has a choice. It’s not like Jim is going to listen to reason and just wait the day or two until the laptop is fixed. Jim wants to get rid of Thomas and this might be his moment.

After 6 hours or work Thomas gets it finished before the end of the day and gives it to Jim. Thomas heads home exhausted from all the work. Finally arriving home he unlocks his door and enters. He sits in front of his TV and flicks it on to catch the end of the 5 o’ clock news. He sees a breaking news bulletin on TV and sees Jim being carried out of the door of the building in handcuffs. Then he sees the banner scroll across the screen saying “Drug Lord captured. Over $50 million in drugs and illegal cash has been seized.” Thomas is shocked to learn that his boss was a drug lord. But, Thomas smirks knowing Jim will be away for a long time, and that he is the most qualified to take his job. Looks like it’s going to be a good day for Thomas after all.
