  1. From http://archive.heinessen.com/mlp/thread/17611328
  2. As it turns out (since I was going backwards through the archives) this was written by http://pastebin.com/u/plumbous
  3. Go check out the rest of their stuff since it saves me a few minutes of copying and pasting
  4.
  5. >the Regal Sisters' magic weakens with their loosened connection to the Elements
  6. >Luna must adapt new means of maintaining the phases of the moon
  7. >the magic which requires the growth cycle now requires increased intake of calories over a steady course of the month
  8. >royal attendees must feed Luna to the brink of overindulgence the course of the day
  9. >the energy emitted from her digestion disperses and travels to her horn, allowing her to control the moon's growing phase
  10. >even with the rapid digestion and the emission of magic, the shape of the moon begins to match the curve of her belly
  11. >in the crescent phase, it's only a slight paunch that barely juts out between her legs, soft and pliable to the touch without hanging down too low as she reclines on her side
  12. >however, the speed at which the servants provide her excessive meals outpaces the speed at which her body can digest it, even with the boosted output of magic
  13. >once she reaches the gibbous phase, she is nearest to her most corpulent state, reducing her mobility to a slow waddle and encouraging her to remain by her lunar perch at the royal castle
  14. >by the time her magic is able to form the full moon, her stomach is barely distinguishable from a large sphere, only showing enough give to spread slightly as she lies in a prone position on the bed
  15. >her limbs must spread apart from the sheer width her belly and rump had amassed, erasing any chance of her hooves touching the ground
  16. >bedridden and overstuffed, Luna has no choice but to concentrate all her focus on the moon from her bedroom window
  17. >at this point, the servants halt their feeding job to allow Luna's body a chance to recover from her numerous feasts
  18. >the stored fat now acts as a source of the energy needed to shrink the moon back down to its dark phase
  19. >the weight she built up rapidly begins to burn away as the moon wanes over the next few days
  20. >by the beginning of the lunar month she's back to her original weight, only for the cycle to begin anew
  21.
  22. >while Luna's expansion occurs monthly and at a fast pace, Celestia's build-up is much more gradual and only noticeable to the attentive eye
  23. >Celestia's body, like that of a typical Equestrian's, seems adapted to store more weight in the winter-time in order to expend it in the warmer months
  24. >the magic Celestia needed to bring the sun closer to Equestria does not burn fast compared to Luna's phases, so she must be more careful in her personal indulgences
  25. >because Celestia is also more in the public eye than her reclusive sister, she also needs to be more concerned about keeping herself trim
  26. >after all, she can never be too sure when an intrepid reporter or photographer will be around to catch her sneaking an extra piece of cake
  27. >by the autumn equinox, she is freer to reacquaint herself with her favorite treats in the privacy of her castle
  28. >at the time of the world's aphelion, Celestia's weight tends to peak due to her diminished efforts in maintaining the sun's vicinity, exerting just enough magic to keep it rising but far enough away to allow the familiar chill of winter
  29. >each inch of her grows softer around the edges, from her plush flanks to a barreled-out belly and thickened neck, resembling the soft fields of snow which blanket the Equestrian hillside
  30. >this period of time is also when Celestia is most secretive, keeping to her private chambers except for the few attendees, advisers, and devoted pupils
  31. >all of whom partake in her indoor celebrations away from the cold, largely in the form of elaborate, jovial Hearth's Warming feasts
  32. >her fondness of desserts helps her build the energy she needs to pull the sun closer at the beginning of spring
  33. >the magic expenditure helps her body become leaner and fitter by the equinox, and once more she attends her public duties
  34. >however, Celestia's closest companions will recognize the faint remnants of her squishy middle and a rounded rear if they look close enough
