Former special operative MacGruber is called back into action to take down his arch-enemy, Dieter Von Cunth, who's in possession of a nuclear warhead and bent on destroying Washington, D.C.
In the Dzhugdzhur Mountains, Eastern Siberia, the criminal Dieter Von Cunth steals a Russian X5 nuclear warhead. Colonel James Faith travels to Rio Bamba, Ecuador, with the efficient Lieutenant Dixon Piper to summon the retired special operative MacGruber to retrieve the X5. MacGruber is considered deceased after the death of his beloved wife Casey by his archenemy Cunth in their wedding. MacGruber teams up with Piper and Vicki St. Elmo and they learn that the evil Cunth intends to use the warhead to destroy Washington D.C.
I saw this going in with low expectations. Maybe it was because I had such low expectations, or maybe it was because. Was with my best friend who has the same sens if humor as I, but in the end I thought Macgruber was hilarious. <br/><br/>This much dirtier than the past SNL movies, movie, takes the Macgyver spoof clips and creates a feature length film. The common ideas between the sketches and the movie are that Macgruber is a loser trapped in the 80s who is successful about 10% of the time . I kept thinking that I had no idea how they could make an entire movie of a guy getting blown up again and again. I guess I just had no idea that an actual plot could be created. And for most of the movie Macgruber is a loser, but once he starts ripping throats, s*** gets real.<br/><br/>With the recognizable homage to the SNL sketches near the end many laugh out loud moments such as; the old celery trick, humping a gave stone, and multiple intense orgasms, Macgruber did it&#39;s job. The creativity and surprisingly enjoyable performances make one forget the few slightly awkward less funny scenes and walk away smiling.<br/><br/>8/10
Honestly this is the only movie in the world that actually gets funnier the more times you watch. Will Forte is a comical genius providing laughs for a life time. It is a very stupid movie in the sense its supposed to be unrealistic and a parody of a lot of action movies, but its dumb humour and Will Fortes quotes and facial expressions are what makes this movie the comedy classic it is. Never have a I enjoyed or quoted a film more. An absolute recommended movie, and watch it a second time because its even better the second time. Kristin Wigg also pulls off a great character, and is one of the very few woman comedians worth getting any laughs in this day and age. IT IS A MUST WATCH MOVIE!!
To call MacGruber"a total bomb is a bit much, but this comedy-action flick sure feels like it was put together with gum, shoelaces and a couple of sticky Twizzlers.
MacGruber is based on a Saturday Night Live skit of the same name. The skit itself was a parody of the TV series <a href="/title/tt0088559/">MacGyver (1985)</a> (1985-1992). The screenplay for MacGruber was written by the Saturday Night Live screenwriting team of Will Forte and John Solomon along with American filmmaker Jorma Taccone, who also directed the movie. &quot;Touch and Go&quot; by Emerson, Lake, and Powell is the song that plays during the montage as he checks off the names on his list. This comedy was released rated R in theaters worldwide.
