- This Clip is taking from Adventure time. This animation is very cartoony and suitable for most ages mainly appealing to the younger generation. The purpose of this clip is to create a humoristic cartoon scene, so a lot of appealing principles are used to create this.
- The visual style is a cartoony digital drawing used to appeal to a younger generation as it’s a cartoon although still appealing to a wider range of audience if they enjoy this type of application.
- The Principles that are used throughout this scene are:
- Squash and Stretch, Timing, Anticipation, Staging, Followthrough and overlapping, Secondary Action, Straight Ahead and pose to pose, Exaggeration, Solid Drawing and Appeal.
- Most of these principles are used to create the animation smoothly and of a high standard such as staging to set scenes, straight ahead and pose to pose for certain walks, solid drawing when the character turns around and enters different scenes and so on. Without these everything would be flat and lack detail and interest. Adding these in creates a more immersive and entertaining animation.
- Throughout the clip there is noticeable 12 principles of Animation being used to create effects and to bring the animation to life and create a better outcome overall. If these were not used, then the animation would be flat and not so appealing to their target audience which in this case is the younger generation. They also use various principles to create humor and to almost simulate stupidity.
- The start of the clip you can see multiple principles being used. Squash and stretch plays a big part when the secondary character squashes their cheeks. This is used as it makes the character look alive and gives the character real life characteristics with a little exaggeration on top of that for cartoony appeal.
- There is quite a lot of follow-through and overlapping being used throughout the whole clip. If this wasn’t used again the character would be stiff and not very life like or give off that cartoony appeal.
- Exaggeration is used also a lot with the secondary character. The character over laughs and overreacts a lot during the beginning of the scene. The whole characters mouth over extends more than a realistic laugh would and the whole body shakes more than it should. Doing this gives the character more appeal and you the audience can see the features and characteristics of the character visually.
