- This video shows off some specific Pomeg corruption glitch tricks.
- The tricks in this video are:
- 1) Metarkai's 'fast cloning' (caused by the glitch Pokémon 0x2600) - clone Pokémon easily at the cost of one Bad Egg if done correctly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Mio5cA9fs
- 2) 0x00AD's music glitch - effectively like disabling the "Direct Sound A" and "Direct Sound B" music channels. (documented by Submachine39. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nedYzxCi3UM)
- 3) Getting 0x0000 as the only Pokémon in the party and viewing Condition from the Pokénav (documented by voltage)
- 4) Double corruption - A trick that allows you to get Pokémon without having to hatch them; hence seemingly unhatchable glitch Pokémon are available. Thanks Metarkai for the details. Used to get 0x7777 in my first use of it in this video.
- 5) 'Groovy box effect' - Change the colour of scrolling box backgrounds based on Pokémon you view with the 0xCCD7 glitch Pokémon. Documented by Metarkai. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOXh7bZRlMo
- 6) "PKMN data" and "close box" colour changer - Change the colour of these boxes in the storage system. Caused by 0xCC9D. Documented by Metarkai, though he didn't tell me about what it specifically does so it was interesting to learn.
- All of these tricks are done through the Pomeg corruption (aka "access beyond slot six"or "Glitzer Popping") glitch; where after entering battle with no usable Pokémon and sending out a ?????????? (Decamark); you scroll through Pokémon beyond slot six and data is corrupted.
- We can turn Seasor the in-game trade Pokémon into a species determined by its HP and Attack EVs if a 0x40 byte is added to the first byte of its personality value (which is used to get the glitch Pokémon except 0x0000), but getting the result you want without the Pokémon turning into a Bad Egg depends on luck; hence many tries may be required.
- Where corruptions happen may be unpredictable. However, possible corruptions for the index number of an address are bits 0 and 2 being set (so the game adds a value of +05 if both are unset, +04 if bit 0 is set already but bit 2 isn't, +01 if bit 2 is set already and bit 4 isn't) or bit 6 being set (+40 to the value if unset).
- For the box data, it starts with box 2 slot 23 (Pokémon 255) and ends at Pokémon 215 or so marking box 1 slot 1 data.
- When by chance a 0x40 is added to the personality value of the in-
- game trade Horsea ("Seasor") or Seedot ("Dots"), you can turn their HP and Attack EVs into species (due to a Pokémon's personality value modulo 24 affecting substructure order) and get a regular Egg instead of a Bad Egg. e.g. 1 Attack and 154 HP EVs gives Deoxys (01ED), if you are lucky to get a 0x40 (bit 6) corruption in the right place. (as memory addresses are randomized). Here is a video of getting Jirachi with Seasor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5vjpqUxxVk
- For glitches 1 and 2; we turn Horsea into 0x2600 (38 Attack, 0 HP EVs) and 0x00AD (0 Attack, 173 HP) Eggs respectively by repeating the corruption steps until we get the desired result.
- I placed Caterpie clones; five unmarked, then five marked (fed six blue Pokéblocks) obtained through double corruption called "perfect (corruption) initiators" before each Horsea because Metarkai told me that they ensure beneficial corruption of the Horsea is possible. This is optional however, and may not be worth it. Here is Metarkai's explanation of how to get one. http://forums.glitchcity.info/index.php/topic,6868.msg198505.html#msg198505
- For glitch 3, we do the corruption steps with Pokémon next to empty slots to force a selectable 0x0000 glitch Pokémon in the space of an empty slot.
- Double corruption:
- For glitches 4-6, we get seemingly unhatchable glitch Pokémon through double corruption.
- With the first desired corruption (however, apparently the corruptions can be done the other way round too), an in-game trade Horsea with specific HP and Attack EVs controlling what it becomes is first turned into an Egg with its species unchanged (apparently due to Trainer ID corruption).
- Then for the second corruption, the Egg is turned into the desired Pokémon (if this happened first, then it would become an Egg of the HP and Attack EV values).
- The technique also allows you to obtain ???????? glitch items as hold items on the Pokémon. (other items are also possible but I haven't read how yet) Unfortunately I've never seen a ???????? that has any effect.
- I'm not confident about what allows double corruption to work yet, however, it can apparently be achieved with Horsea and an empty box slot 22, or the following pattern:
- 1) Dots with 30 Special Attack and 10 Speed EVs
- 2) Seasor with 13 Speed EVs and the desired HP and Attack EVs knowing Waterfall, Protect, Surf.
- (Dots and Seasor should be placed in succession)
- Once the player gets an Egg (first corruption), they should never pick up the Egg with the glove; and they should place another Dots before it before doing the corruption again until the Egg transforms into the Pokémon.
- *EVs for 0x7777 - 119 Attack and HP.
- *EVs for 0xCCD7 - 204 Attack and 215 HP.
- *EVs for 0xCC9D - 204 Attack and 157 HP.
- Method to corrupt after you've prepared box 2 and/or 1:
- 1) Have a Pokémon with 1-2 HP that can have its HP lowered by a
- Pomeg Berry (first position), a Pokémon to switch to in the last position, and 2-4 fainted Pokémon.
- 2) Enter battle, switch to the last position Pokémon and run.
- 3) Deposit the last position Pokémon and use the Pomeg Berry on the Pokémon in the first position to give it 0 or 'negative' (65534-5) HP.
- 4) If it gets 'negative' HP, using a healing item will restore its HP to
- zero.
- 5) Enter battle with all fainted Pokémon to send out the Decamark.
- 6) If you had 2-4 fainted Pokémon, you will be able to corrupt
- addresses by viewing the summary of a Pokémon, backing out and
- then scrolling up.
