The Children of Earth

Part One: The Legacy of Mankind

A few billion years ago, an ancient race known as the humans died out due to some unknown reasons. Said reasons range from biological disaster, an attacking race, or internal revolts. The answer may never be known. In their species' time, the humans were able to develop several amazing inventions. They created space travel, terraforming and reproduction without the needs of a mate. A few years or so after their most horrible disease, the disease-which-rots was cured, they found an ancient Hyperspace Gate, embedded in a mountain. They soon developed the technology to travel to distant star systems.

Like I said, it’s unknown what happened to this race. However, in their last dying days, they seeded the Galaxy with life, using life forms from their own planet, Earth. 4-7 billion years has passed since then, and several of the life forms have evolved into intelligent beings. Take for example, the Caorons. They evolved from a life form on Earth, although which, is not known. Caorons are tall, (adults are usually 6’10) humanoid, furred creatures, with a brown/black striped tail. They also appear to be wearing a “mask”.

Caorons are not peaceful, but they haven’t had a war in several hundred years, since their society is not made up of “nations”, but instead, families, each with it’s own skill. These families are called “kiiths”.  Their language is also based on a very ancient language, known as Galactic Common, which was once used by the now-extinct humans. Caorons are also known for their excellent scientific skills.

However, when the humans died, they didn’t do so without wanting to eventually let go of their secrets. So they decided that their children should known of it, in time, when they were ready.

And ready, they were.

Chapter 1: The Caorons and the Macedonians

The Caorons live on the planet of Ithaca. Their first hint that they were possibly the product of some other intelligent beings, was the fact that they lived in the same system as the Macedonians, on the planet of Macedonia.

It is unknown when exactly the two species became aware of each other’s existence, but once they were aware, they quickly developed a close relationship, by sharing their technology, and eventually, they got to meet face-to-face with the joint funded, Project Union, which sent regularly sends ships to and from Ithaca, to Macedonia.

The Macedonians are almost like Caorons, except their snouts are more elongated. They’re more strongly built, but they are intelligent, like the Caorons.

The Macedonians like a more carnivorous diet, unlike the Caorons, who are omnivorous.
