Kastelan Robots and Magos

Volmak Khazar, datasmith second-class in the sacred Legio Cybernetica – Machine-God’s blessed maintenance be upon it – was having difficulty calibrating their surroundings.
Last they had known, Khazar and their complement of Kastelan robots had been wading through drukhari raiders in the mountains of Rubrik VII, their breathing apparatus modified into a reusable oxygen system to deal with the massive altitude.
Yet now, if their environmental scanners did not lie, they were underwater.
A great depth underwater, if the pressure gauges read correctly.
And the lithe aeldari were gone. In their place were metal men, constructs cursed by the Machine-God. Blasphemous things, forged not made, that mocked the purity of the human form that still – despite their mechadendrites and databanks – lay within Volmak Khazar. With a trill of fear, their cybernetic brain brought up shadowy legends of the Men of Iron, the Abominable Intelligence said to have nearly brought mankind to ruin.
There were troops next to them, fighting the invaders. Green beams lashing out like whips that disassembled the enemy where they struck them. They were about to turn their head, but a strong urge prevented it, and the momentary warning of a system compromise winked out. Their cybernetic brain informed them that they had no need to see these allies, but they were to thank the Machine-God that these allies were fighting on their side.
So they did.

Nine hulking robots stood straighter, dome heads turning towards Khazar for orders. Power fists crackled and weapons chambered in anticipation, merely at the tone of Khazar’s logic-speech.
<Destroy the abominations.>
Nine big shoulders swung around and advanced, weapons acquiring targets. There were so many, it took no time at all, despite the slowness of the water.
