In Mellow, technology is best compared to the steampunk genre. Of course, always knowing that this technology is less or more present in different parts of the world. Gunpowder is common, railroads and airships are the main methods of travel and industries manufacture products. Most importantly, the Ars Vapos exists: the art of steam.

It isn't just a way of moving pistons and mechanisms with vapour, but also the way flesh and machine are fused together, in order to create more powerful Fellows. However, it has it's tragic past.

Decades ago, the Duke of Dallhaus attempted to create a Fellow out of only mechanical parts. This failed, and instead, he tried to slowly replace a Fellow's body entirely with mechanical parts. Halfway through, the body did not refuse the machine. Rather, the machine refused the body, and the test subject was driven mad. Turned into a feral beast, he gave birth to the Technoplague - a curse to all those who abuse the Ars Vapos. Dallhaus's underground was completely infected and lost to the beasts, and so the city fell to disrepair.

Nobody truly understands the Technoplague, but at least, thanks to the efforts of brave Fellows residing in the top parts of Dallhaus, it is contained to it's underground.
