Unforeseen Consequences - The rise of Nightmare Moon(pt.40)

>This is a dream, there’s simply no other explanation for it. Tons of things were wrong with the complex, starting with the fact that the lambda complex logo was everywhere, the voice of the automated system was weird, the train also was going in some strange direction that it seemed impossible under your word’s physics.
>You wonder if Luna was watching you, or if she was close… egh this dream stuff seemed a little too crazy, even for those creepy guys that you always saw going to the far end of the complex.
“Hey mom! Are you there? What is going on? Why are we in my old world?”
>You hear Luna groan and with that a bright light appears in front of you
“AGH!”
>Fucking shit, it was so bright… it almost left you blind.
>”You weren’t supposed to know that this was a dream” Luna appears with a poof, you could see that she wasn’t pleased that she got caught that soon
“Well, is not hard to tell when everything is so over the top. I mean for Pete’s sake we are going upside down right now!”
>Luna rolls her eyes and gives you a light bonk on the head “Well excuse me for not being able to reproduce the crazy structures that belong to your old world. I have never seen such things like these! And I have seen some really strange stuff inside pony’s dreams… What is this thing that we are on anyways?”
“Is called a Monorail and I took it every day to go to work…”
>Luna gasps in shock “What do you mean? You worked instead of going to school? I can’t believe such thing!”
>You raise an eyebrow and give Luna a stoic look
“Well, my world sucked pretty hard, remember? Anyways yes, and I never went to work during night. No one except interns had to stay up late-“
>”Interns?” It seems that Luna had forgotten why this thing was going on, curiosity had gotten the best of her “I’m sorry but I do not know the meaning of such word”
“It basically means that the company got some losers that were fresh out of college and had poor grades. They work like slaves just driven by the motivations that they might get hired once they internship ends… of course that never happens, but eh... at least they get recommendations. And a recommendation from us surely can get you a decent job somewhere else”
>You mom rubs her chin and looks to you baffled about your explanation “That sounds needlessly convoluted… and honestly really awful, so were you an intern?”
>You chuckle and wave your hoof dismissively
“Nah, I was pretty high profile and I even had my own office too. In fact interns worked for me. Never got someone who could prepare a decent cup of coffee though”
>Luna was looking more and more confused “But you are just a colt… why would you have such a high position? Is not that I don’t believe you… is just that your world was so different to Equestria”
“Well, I’m not ANY colt. I know that is bad for me to saying… but I honestly don’t care… I am a genius, one of the biggest of my generation. I got a PhD pretty early on my life and then the company took interest on me, hired me and Boom! I got a pretty good job in the biggest research facility in the world! Pretty good for a colt, huh?”
>Luna looks away, she was thinking hard about something “If what you are saying is true, and I really have a feeling that it is… Then I will have to talk with Tia about making you a test so you can have more advanced studies” She then narrows her eyes at you and pokes your chest with her hoof “But no son of mine will work until he has the proper age to do it! I want you to enjoy your childhood, you hear me?!”
>You shrug and nod
“As you say, and as a matter of fact I wasn’t planning to do anything like that. But you know… I could show you my office if you want… hmmm” You rub your chin “Can I actually do that?”
>Luna smiles and happily nods “This is a dream, YOUR dream! You can do whatever you please my little star!”
>And the moment she says that, you suddenly are dressed in a crappy yellow star costume and start floating around
“H-hey!”
>Luna starts to giggle and pokes you a little, making you float away and without anything that you could do to stop it “I’m sorry, but I couldn’t help myself! You look soooooo cute!”
>You groan and roll your eyes
“Yeah I’m the cutest colt… anyways, wanna see my office? I even had a mini fridge!”
>Your mom nods agains “I would love to… and I would love to see what a mini fridge is too! Just focus on the place you want to be and let the dream do its work!”
>You smile and do just that. You focus on your office and BAM! The scenerie changed in the blink of an eye from the crazy transport system that Luna created to the comfiness of your old office.
“Ta-Da! Do you like it!”
>Luna takes a first glance and shrugs “It looks like Tia’s study… just that the chair and desk looks worse”
>You let out a small growl at this
“Yeah, administration got cheap at times, ESPECIALLY when it came with furniture. I swear that they went out of their way to buy the most uncomfortable chairs they could find”
>Luna starts inspecting everything, from the bookshelves to the diplomas hanged on your wall, to your photos… oh shit your photos! She will see a bunch of humans there! Jesus fuck NO!
>You dash to were Luna was standing but when you come close you notice something odd: Every photo that depicted you had a little colt instead of the handsome motherfucker that you used to be… all of them had your current form instead of your old human body
>You didn’t think about changing the photos in your wall to depict you as the little horse that you are now, and you were sure as hell that Luna didn’t do such thing, so the only plausible explanation was…
“Discord…” You mutter his name low enough so she can’t hear you, but with enough anger to fuel a thousand white suns.
>He lied when he said that he just tinkered with your mind a little. The son of a bitch must have done a major overhaul to your memories and the perception of your past self… That son of a fucking bitch will pay sometime.
>Luna seems to take a particular liking for the picture that was right in the center of your wall. She grabs it with her magic and looks at it like if it was some kind of dear treasure “I like this one…”
>She shows the photo to you. It was your graduation from the MIT, you remembered that one. You were dressed in your graduation robe, holding proudly your diploma and award for being the best of your generation…
>Just that the photo depicted yourself as a little colt, and instead of your frustrated classmates, it depicted a bunch of frustrated stallions and mares. You should be more disturbed at this, but Luna’s face… goddamn.
>She absolutely adored the picture to the point where you could see a tear running down her cheek, she turns to you with a smile and eyes that completely disarmed you “I know this is probably an event that happened a while ago, you look younger in this picture, but… I still feel so proud about you; I wish that I could have seen my little star graduating from college”
>And you wish that she would have been there too… The party was fucking fantastic but having Luna and Celestia there and cheering for you… would have been better.
>You walk towards her and nuzzle on Luna’s chest
“Me too… but don’t worry, when I graduate from whatever college I go in my new home then we will take a picture like that… just that instead of just me, it will be our little family of three…”
>Luna pulls you closer while she kept staring at the picture “I long for that day…. But I still wish that I could bring this picture with me…”
“Yeah… and my mini freezer”
>Luna lets out a small chuckle “Yeah, that too… whatever it is…”
>Ok… You got this one Discord… Just because Luna loved these slightly altered memories
>After a few moments of comfy cuddles Luna suddenly pulls you out from her embrace, she had realized that she forgot the reason why you came here “Anon… I am sorry for spoiling this moment, but we need to move on… I need to show you…” she chokes so hard that she can’t pronounce those last words
>Your heart was shattering at the now somber looking Luna, but you realize that this was something that needed to be done
>You sigh and reply to her with a serious tone
“You are right… we came here because you wanted to show me what the deal with Nightmare Moon was”
>Luna slowly nods “That is correct…” she then points with her hoof towards the door of your office “When we leave through that door you will finally see who Nightmare Moon is… who I WAS at some point… who I still am in some degree…” every time she mentioned Nightmare Moon to you it was like if she died a little… and you could feel your heart shatter at this sight.
>You close your eyes and nod. You don’t say this to Luna, but you were sure that whatever happens; whatever is beyond that door… it won’t be enough to change your impression about her nor the love you felt towards your new mom.
>Luna opens the door and the only thing that could be seen coming from it was a bright light. You take a deep breath and walks towards the light

>This time it was day time and you certainly expected tons of things, but never something like this.
“I... I can’t believe this… Is this the old castle that we went to when we were in Ponyville?”
>Instead of the old ruins what stood in front of you was a massive castle. Bigger than Canterlot Castle, bigger than the one you saw in Ponyville.
>As a matter of fact it was bigger than tons of monuments that you’ve seen back on Earth. The grounds of the castle were larger than Versailles, while it was at least doubled the Vatican in terms of size.
>It was simply mind blowing how big this whole structure was compared to those old ruins. It was majestic and that’s just to put it mildly.
>You expected an answer from Luna… but nothing, no reply. You look around and she was nowhere to be seen
“Mom? Where are you? Is this part of the dream?”
>But once again there was no reply or any sign of Luna… you were starting to grow desperate until you remember something crucial that Luna told you.
“Oh that’s right! This is a dream, so I just need to focus where I want to be and then I’ll be there! Thinking about it, this sounds like the teleportation spell… I hope that I don’t end up crashing into a wall”
>You also need to stop speaking to yourself. Only weirdos and pretentious assholes do that. You focus on Luna, her face… but for some reason Celestia do come to mind too… you focus on those two, your desperation didn’t allow you to think that rationally anyways.

>And it worked; you were now inside the throne room. Just that instead of being decayed thanks to the passage of time it was back to its former glory. The banners that were hanging above the thrones were simply amazing and depicted in a very stylistic way which one belonged to each sister.
>You start walking towards the thrones until a familiar voice stops you
>”Not... another step!” It was Luna, and for some reason she came out from behind her throne…
>You tilt your head in confusion
“Why? What is going on? I don’t understand, is something dangerous supposed to happen if I advance more? And if so then does that mean that I shouldn’t have come here? And why were you waiting behind your throne? If you were waiting for me, shouldn’t have been more practical to tell me that this place was dangerous instead of waiting until I came here?”
>Luna seems to not notice you or at least she didn’t seem to put any attention to your questions “Did you really expect me to sit idly by while they all basked in your precious light?”
>There was something out of place with her. Her face, her eyes… they didn’t display the kindness that your mom always had… it was almost as if this was a completely different person, not the goofy, cheesy and loving mother that you knew.
“I’m sorry but… I really don’t follow what you meant with “precious light” never been a fan of fantasy stuff, so I would really appreciate if you could clarify what you are talking about… or what is going on with you .”
>She again doesn’t seem to care about your questions, instead she scowls and looks at something behind you with absolute hatred ”There can only be one princess in Equestria! And that princess... will be ME!” Luna stomps her hooves and her voice echoes across the room, her eyes were emanating a bright light.
“Wha-“
>The ground starts to shake violently as a huge shadow starts to expand across the room. The wall was starting to crack while Luna slowly started to ascend breaking the stained glass that stood on the top of it.
>For a brief moment sunlight comes into the room before the moon covers the sun creating a solar eclipse.
>Luna starts to get enveloped by the shadows forming a shining flaming ball. You try to resist the wind that was coming from it
“What the hell is going on?!”
>An evil cackle starts to come from the shining ball. It doesn’t last long until the ball dissipates, revealing a much taller mare than Luna. Her mane was as dark as the pits of hell; she had fangs sharper than any knife you’ve seen and her eyes…
>They were similar to the ones that bat ponies had, but they held much more evil inside them… but her laughter was the worst part. It wasn’t the melody that you were used to hearing, the cackling of this mare gave you the creeps and put you on high alert.
>You mind came to a conclusion about the reason of why Luna was so scared about the mare that stood in front you, why she was terrified of talking about her…
>Just by looking at her you could tell that she represented the opposite of what she is, her worst fears coming into a physical manifestation and taking hold of her own body transforming her into the creature known as Nightmare Moon
