Regarding making a fuss, you did from my perspective, stir up a fuss about paint-alongs. Our rules for paint-alongs are very clear, the rules for the army event are clear, and you wanted to disregard them and "do a paintalong" without actually being in a paint-along
Paint-alongs, as nan basically described, is just a gamified thing we do in the server. You partaking in them means you adhere to some rules.

What you need to understand is that, paint-alongs, the army event, everything in this server is something that myself and nan and the moderators all handle for your benefit, for free.
It is a lot of work running events like these, and you, came to me and asked why you can't participate in a paint-along and the army event, I explained why and then you continued to stir up a fuss because you disagreed with how we do things basically
So what you were doing, is adding additional stress, additional work, to something that already takes a great amount of effort on our parts.

Real talk: how can I improve my advent challenge. I care about that. I always tried to include the message and the date and my work on the honor system so I am not entirely sure what rule I am missing.
Can't really understand the hatred for emotes in the server but that is just something that can't change I suppose.
I can repeat what I dislike about those two examples if you'd like.

Calling it "making a fuss" to clarify rules is rude and unjust. Rules should be clarifiable.
Saying that people "pretend" paint tries to invalidate their efforts in painting.
Calling people obnoxious after two or three interactions shows that one assumes the worst of others.

At least that is my point of view. Hope this doesnt come off as obnoxious I just want to share my point of view and come to a consensus apart from "this is the server figure it out",  that helps me get along in the server.

the army event is literally designed to get everyone to paint an army, together, at the same time, monthly
So you will be painting alongside other users in the army event, this is part of why we are restricting models for that event, to that event
And you asking to do a paint-along without getting points, is not less work no, because what you don't grasp is that normally we mark all these people down, and they get points when they finish their part of the paint-along
You asking to paint-along without points, and also not be disqualified from the army event, means that we basically have to specify and note that you are "special" in this instance, we have to make sure then we don't give you points for paintalong, and we also have to note not to disqualify you from the army event at a later time
So you are asking us to make an exception just for you specifically, whether you see it that way or not, is irrelevant. Because that is how it is.

Well the thing is it is my very first time painting an army. The paint along is for seeing different interpretations of Feudal Japanese Soldiers. And I deem it unrealistic to finish an entire unit on top of the army project in that time frame, me being a beginner and all.

Well, it’s because paint-alongs are a method of gaining extra points. We don’t allow models used in one point-bonus event to also be used in another.
That’s why, for example, you can’t use the army event models in a paint along.

Basically, at least for me, it comes down to this: people are always trying to game the system, and it makes it less fun for everyone else involved. When people start asking to do complicated stuff, it’s an extra headache for me, red, and our moderator team. We all do this for free, so extra work we end up with, isn’t very fun. Thus, we ask that people keep stuff simple.
Our defined “Paint Along” is also just that: a defined thing. We have rules in place around it to ensure it doesn’t get abused.
If you and someone else want to paint the same models and don’t want the extra points, then go ahead and do that, but it’s not going to be registered as a Paint Along for anyone.
So you don’t need to tag mods or even tell anyone

As promised here are my plans for the future and what I think about what happened:

You probably already heard from Red how our chat went. I tried my best to explain my point of view and understand Red's but him still being in the habit of insulting me and being quite uncooperative meant talk went poorly. Instead of being empathetic he found it a lot more appropriate to ban me solely for the calm and rational talk in DMs. Banning someone for what happens in DMs is unacceptable, especially in his position. Luckily I was able to defuse the situation. I will be looking forward to how the server develops over the years. A server where you can light heartedly talk about hobbying is what I am looking for. But as it stands r/minipainting is not that for me. Glad that everyone else enjoys the server but seeing that Red still hates my guts it is only a matter of time until I get banned on a whim so I will be taking a passive stance towards the server. Hope this explains the situation.
