"You...you won't abandon me no matter what happens, right?"

"What are you implying?"

"I--Please just say that you won't,,"

"Yeah, sure, you're my best friend after all. Why would I?"

I still remember that conversation we had until now. I...I don't know whether I should feel happy that she kept her word and not once abandoned me out of fear.

"Lala, please don't get scared on what I'll tell you next..."

"Why would I be?"

"I'm...I'm a vampire--"

"HAHAHAHA, I never knew you were such a joker, Mack, haha."

"I-It's true!"

"Hold on *wheeze* let me *wheeze* catch my breath"

"I...I only have a few days left before the meds my parents gave me lose their effect, and I would only have 3 days to live if I don't drink a person's blood"

"So you're asking me to give you some of my blood?"

"Wh-What?! I'm--"

"Ok, I...I'm willing to give you my blood."

"Lala, I'm not asking you to carry this burden--"

"But I want to help you though? Didn't I say that I won't leave you?"

"A-Alright"

I did whatever I could to reciprocate the kindness she gave me. I tried multiple times to convince her that I could always find another person to drink off from.

"It's fine, Lala. You don't need to do this anymore,, I can always find another--"

"No. You're drinking off mine no matter what you say. I'm not risking you accidentally 'starving' again after the last stunt you pulled `Д´"

"But what about you--?"

"Mack, you were lucky enough that our blood was compatible."

"Wh-What? What are you saying-?"

"From what your parents told me, when a vampire drinks the blood of a human that they're not compatible with, it doesn't actually feed their thirst. It intensifies it, basically shortening the time limit. Unlikely for you though, you drink from one of the rarest types. Luckily, my blood is one of those 'types'."

"B-But!"

"THINK OF YOURSELF FOR ONCE IN YOUR DAMN LIFE, MACK! YOU KNOW THAT YOUR PARENTS CAN'T AFFORD BUYING YOU ACTUAL BLOOD FROM HOSPITALS"

"...Alright, I'll...I'll stop pushing this issue."

I should have continued to resist. I should have never accepted it... She says that I should think more for myself when she's the one WILLINGLY giving me her blood...just to keep me alive!

"Mack, honey"

"Yes, mother?"

"Your...your friend, she...she died. I'm sorry"

I remember how I felt numb at that moment. I had just fed off over her last night before I recieved the news. Now that I think about it, she was acting strange after we finished.

"OK, you're done now, right? Right. Now, shoo, shoo, I still have stuff to do. You'll only be a distraction to me."

She pushed me towards the door and closed it once I was outside.

Doctor said that she died due to not having enough blood within her. They were puzzled on how it happened.

She was anemic.

I...why did she not tell me about it? Why? Why? Why? Why did she continue to give me her blood? Why? Why? Why?

Wasn't I supposed to be there for her? Yet she called me to be the selfless one between the two of us?

The next day, I recieved a package. It contained blood packs along with an envelope. The envelope contained a note.

"Hey, Mack. It kinda sucks that you'd have to recieve this. Don't start blaming yourself, I swear. It was ny choice, and my choice alone, got it? So, if you do get this, it means I'm dead, like I said, it sucks. This contains the blood we so far know that's compatible with you (coughmine) which you MUST drink off from until you find someone compatible WITHOUT anemia. Don't you dare waste this, or I swear that I'll haunt you forever >:(

This...this person, even in death, she...she never abandoned me. I remember crying that night harder than the previous night.

The following month, I only felt emptiness inside me. I felt even worse when my mother gave me this knowledge.

"Mother, how come you don't need to feed off of anyone? Do you do that to dad? But then, what about those times he was gone for more than three days?"

"Honey, it's a special thing with vampires. You see, it needs both persons to be vampires in order to work. They can create a link or bond to each other using a mark on their neck. Why else did you think that you don't sport two dots on your neck while your father and I do?"

I tuned out the rest she said after the described the 'link'. Lala...she could have been alive if I knew or asked this before I asked for her help... I couldn't think of anything else other than how it was MY fault that she's dead.

Today is the day I finish all the blood Lala gave me a month ago. I never bothered finding a different source. I kept on lying to my parents about how I found another source and was just finishing my current supply first. I couldn't bare to risk killing off someone again even if it was accidental.

"I miss you so much, Lala. It still hurts, y'know?"

"Aw~ I missed you too, Mack~ ^ω^"
