- Specs
- CPU: AMD 5800x3D (I've also tried a another 5800x3D)
- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4080 Gaming OC (previously used a Gigabyte Radeon RX 6900 XT OC)
- Cooler: Arctic Freezer II 360 (Using 6 fans top mounted to my case with a push/pull configuration)
- Ram: Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3600MHz C18 (I've also tried 2 different lots of RAM at 16GB 3200MHz and at different clock speeds/timings!)
- PSU: Corsair RM1000x 1000w (Initially I had a 850w PSU that I swapped out in case the stutters were caused by any Power Limits)
- MOBO: MSI MPG X570S Carbon Max Wifi (Swapped out with MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk)
- SSD 2x WD SN850 1TB M.2 with Heatsink & Samsung 870 evo 500GB SATA SSD (Tried several configurations, running both multiple and single drives)
- Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow with 13 Fans (Including CPU Cooler fans)
- Monitor: BenQ XL2540 - 1080p 240Hz
- Steps taken to try to reduce stuttering:
- GPU (6900XT)
- capping frames in game
- RTSS frame cap
- Disabled ULPS in MSI Afterburner
- Both Full and Minimal AMD GPU Driver Installs - Tried 5 different drivers(Using DDU)
- Used MorePowerTool to disable DS (sleep) states and raise power limit
- Used MoreClockTool to set many different min-max clock range on GPU (tried clock speeds as low as 1900MHz and as high as 2750MHz with different combinations of voltages and different Power %)
- Memory Fast Timing Level both on and off
- Set a more aggressive fan curve
- Different Radeon Settings (Anti-Lag, Vsync off of course, HDCP support, Tesselation Mode AMD Opt/Overide Off, Texture Filtering Quality Performance)
- Freesync on/off
- RTX 4080
- set voltage curve in msi afterburner for 4080 undervolt at 935mv @ 2580MHz
- tried bossting memory clock also and raising power limit
- Set a more aggressive fan curve
- the usual optimal nvidia control panel settings - prefer maximum performance, use highest refresh rate etc.
- Even went as far to try nvidia profile inspector for further settings: force cuda P2 state off,
- memory allocation policy moderate pre allocation.
- Multiple drivers
- Made sure to use 3 separate PCI cables for powering the GPU
- Ram
- DRAM Voltages ranging from 1.1v to 1.4v
- Different Ram frequencies ranging from 2400MHz to 3800MHz
- XMP on and off
- Many different combos of manual and auto timings
- Even used Ryzen ram calculator and DDR4 OC guide by integral
- Upgraded Ram from 16GB to 32GB
- ram in different slots, also tried both sticks on their own
- CPU
- PBO2 Tuner curve with different offsets ranging from 0 down to -30 (even set several different PPT, TDC and EDC limits)
- Repasted CPU
- Windows
- disabling Control Flow Guard in Exploit Protection
- disabling different Services (SysMain, AMD Crash Defender/External Events Utility, Diagsvc, Gupdate, edgeupdate)
- Fresh Installed to both Windows 10 and 11 (tried many different versions! Currently using W10)
- disabled all non Microsoft Services in system configuration
- Ran a Malwarebytes Scan
- updated C++ and DirectX
- Power plans: High Performance/Ultimate/Bitsum Highest Performance
- Disabled unnecessary programs from startup
- Gamemode/Gamebar on and off
- Disable Background Apps
- Disabled Notifications
- uninstalled OneDrive
- Adjusted visual effects for best performance
- Tried Manual/Disabled and Automatic Page File settings
- Disabled Windows Transparency Effects
- Disabled Hibernate
- Disabled Bluetooth
- Ensure GPU is running in MSI Mode
- Intelligent Standby List Cleaner (ISLC)
- Disabled Microsoft Store auto updates
- disable Variable Refresh Rate
- Removed Windows bloat programs
- Turned many things on and off in device manager (AMD GPIO/PSP/Dynamiuc Audio Noise Suppression, Kernel Debug Network Adapter, Radio Device Enumeration Bus, NDIS Virtual Network Adapter Enumerator, HDMI Audio, Realtek software, unused audio devices, xbox 360 controller)
- With and without Chipset Drivers
- Tried to use Latency Mon and windows performance toolkit in an attempt to diagnose (I must admit these were a bit too complicated for me)
- Disabled all Hardware acceleration on programs such as discord, spotify, Google Chrome
- Disabled Chrome from running in background
- disabled Windows Defender
- stopped gamebarpresencewriter.exe (definitely helped to reduce some stutter)
- Disabled Windows NDU (Network Data Usage)
- DISM Scan/repair and sfc /scannow commands with temp file removal
- Disabled MPO (Multi-Plane Overlay)
- Samsung Magician Full Performance Mode
- WD_Black SN850 dashboard - updated firmware, turned Gaming Mode On and RGB off
- Tried different polling rates on mouse/keyboard.
- Disabled HAGS
- Disabled discord overlay
- Other
- Dismantled PC and Rebuilt it many times, even reconnecting only essential things to fault find
- replaced cmos battery
- Used a GPU support stand to prevent sagging on the right side away from the mounting position.
- PUBG Game settings
- I prefer maximum performance in-game so always play on lowest settings (have tried higher settings in case it was a utilisation issue, but to no avail).
- Also turned off all of the crap - vsync, show inventory character render etc.
- render scale 100%
- DX11E (have also tried DX11 & DX12)
