- "A Morning Wind"
- With heart alight she made her flight,
- To greet him on each morn.
- A gentle breeze she flew with ease,
- Her manner soft and warm.
- Bird of feather 'twas a zephyr,
- To save him from the storm.
- Yet through each gale she did travail,
- With sorrow held inside.
- A lonely swan with sweetest song,
- But one she'd not confide.
- For in her pain was unknown shame,
- A pain he could not find.
- Until the dawn without a song,
- In which she could not cry.
- She only stared in lost despair,
- A stare without "Goodbye."
- And with clipped wing she did still sing,
- But in another sky.
- Yet there are mornings that he hears her,
- Still calling out his name,
- And though his search is desperate,
- He only hears her pain.
- His mornings are now silent,
- But why he'll never know.
- He'd wipe away her tears,
- Just to bring her home.
- There lost upon the mourning wind,
- Her memory lingers on.
- And though he cannot hold her hand,
- He'll always hear her song.
- And though the restless nights have passed,
- She lingers in his dreams,
- And that is where she waits for him,
- But in a sky unseen.
- And now she holds his hand,
- And now she lets it go,
- And now he can but weep,
- For the girl he used to know.
